The Long Island Quiz Bowl Alliance is pleased to announce that we have recently acquired Questions Unlimited.
The LIQBA will be taking over all existing question contracts that are currently under the Questions Unlimited aegis. We will continue to provide strictly and solely pyramidal questions of the highest quality and caliber to leagues throughout the United States, in any format you would like. All existing customers have been notified of this change. Chip will be retiring from question production, and will not be involved with LIQBA production moving forward; however, he is being retained as an advisor to help see through a seamless transition.
The LIQBA will also be continuing Questions Unlimited's 3-2-1 competition. This pyramidal competition will follow a similar format to what has been done the past few years: an online, asyncronous competition for schools throughout the nation and beyond.
The LIQBA will not be assuming responsibility for the National Academic Championship, which will now be held, by Chip Beall, under the traditional National Academic Association banner. We have received contractual guarantees, however, that the questions at the NAC will be free of hoses and have clear indicators, and the questions will be looked over and edited by a representative from the LIQBA, as a first step in rebuilding community trust in the event. We fully endorse these efforts and hope that the community will take a fresh look at this competition.
The LIQBA will also be offering five free practice packets for free use so that all interested parties can get an idea of what our questions are like. These are in the four-quarter format. They will soon be posted on these boards and on our website. Additional practice material is for sale on the LIQBA website.
Our head editor for the High School division is Daniel Peelen, and our head editor for the Middle and Elementary school divisions is Conor Thompson. While we have more than fifty writers, all of which are in the community, we do not release a list of our writers; however, they are free to disclose their affiliation with us. In addition, additional writers are always welcome to join us.
This acquisition will not affect our regular-season tournaments, all of which will be returning for the 2024-25 season in addition to new events in New Jersey and the Midwest, or our Subject Tests.
While we understand that many of you have a poor opinion of Chip Beall, we would like to salute him as he retires from question production. Chip, in essence, brought High School-level Quizbowl to the national level, founding a plethora of circuits throughout the country, helping start hundreds of teams, and creating the first-ever national Quizbowl tournament at the High School level. On a personal note, as a 4-year veteran of the NAC in 2012-2016, while I occasionally grieved at some of the questions, look back very fondly on my experiences and time there, and my respect for Chip has only grown over the years. My school's adventures to Washington were some of the best times of my life, as I hope they will be for thousands of others at future NACs.
This acquisition, along with that of Avery Enterprises' High School division earlier this season, continues our expansion plans for the 2024-25 season. We will continue to provide the highest-quality tournaments, tests, and questions in the business, and we look forward to continue serving Quizbowlers throughout the United States.
PS: We're still finishing up the order form on the website; if you're interested in tournament questions, please feel free to email me. Practice questions will be available closer to the start of the season.

What a great story! Would you care to tell us how you "almost" monopolized quizbowl? What plans do you have with this acquisition? How this will affect circuits that have historically played NAC questions? If there is a plan to get these schools to play pyramidal questions outside of this format and LIQBA? And most importantly, how well are you paying your writers and editors?a Joe wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 7:16 pm The Long Island Quiz Bowl Alliance is pleased to announce that we have recently acquired Questions Unlimited.

Re: The Long Island Quiz Bowl Alliance acquires Questions Unlimited
Congratulations! From what I know about Questions Unlimited, this is excellent news for Quiz Bowl and for middle and high school students who might end up at a Questions Unlimited tournament.
Out of curiosity, do you know (or can you say) how many schools and/or students attend Questions Unlimited tournaments every year? I'm curious about how significant an impact this acquisition will have on high school academic trivia extracurriculars.
