2022 Yale Winter Invitational (Online, 01/08/2022) [IS-204]

Yale Student Academic Competitions (YSAC) is pleased to announce that the 2022 Yale Winter Invitational will be held online via Zoom on Saturday, January 8, 2022. The tournament will use untimed rounds of 20 tossups and bonuses each from NAQT's IS-204, a regular difficulty high school set.

We will hold an opening meeting at 8:50 am EST and gameplay will begin at 9:00 am EST. Please direct any questions about the tournament to me at [email protected].

Registration
We will be using NAQT's registration system, which can be found here. Please ensure your team has not already played IS-204 before registering. We are aiming the tournament towards schools in New England, New York, and New Jersey, but exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. Please direct any questions to [email protected].

The field is currently capped at 16 teams. We may be able to expand depending on staff availability and will therefore maintain a wait-list.

Qualification
The top 15% of the field, rounded up, will qualify for NAQT's HSNCT at the end of the season.

Payment
Base fee: $75
Base fee for each additional team: $70
Moderator discount: -$15 per experienced scorekeeper or moderator
Minimum fee per school: $45

Payment can be made via check to “Y. Student Academic Competitions.” sent to an address that will be detailed on your invoice; or via Venmo, to @YaleQB. Please email [email protected] and "cc" [email protected] at the time of your payment so we can confirm receipt.

Conduct
YSAC does not tolerate misconduct of any form, including harassment and cheating. We will require all teams in attendance to adhere to a code of conduct which will be provided prior to the tournament. Incidents of potential misconduct can be reported directly to staff or through the anonymous misconduct reporting form.

Our initial field cap of 16 teams has been reached. We currently have several waitlist teams (some aren't currently shown), including a few B teams from out-of-region schools. In order to best serve our target region, we will be granting in-region teams that register by Wednesday, December 8 waitlist-priority over those out-of-region B teams and any new out-of-region teams who are granted allowances. After that, the waitlist will be first-come, first-serve.

The field cap will likely be raised, so we encourage interested teams to sign up now!
