2022 PACE NSC: June 11-12, Chicago - Congratulations Lambert!

Post by meebles127 »

The Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence is proud to announce that the 2022 National Scholastic Championship (NSC) will be held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois, on June 11-12, 2022.

The Hyatt Regency O’Hare has been the site of the 2016 and 2017 NSCs, as well as numerous quizbowl national championships. PACE looks forward to continuing our partnership to bring teams a high-quality tournament in the NSC tradition.

The tournament will be directed by Emily Dickson, and the set will be head edited by Michael Bentley.

New this year: all attendees are required to abide by the PACE NSC COVID-19 Policy, which includes submitting proof of vaccination.

Details on registration for the tournament can be found here.

Tournament fees can be found here.

A list of registered teams can be found here.

A reminder to all teams interested in playing the 2022 PACE NSC that wild card bids are now being accepted.

Teams that have not qualified for the NSC through the above system can submit a wild card bid. Additionally, a school that has qualified its A Team for the NSC can submit a wild card bids for additional teams (B team, C team, etc.) if those additional teams from the same school has not qualified through other means.

To submit a wild card bid, email PACE’s Wild Card Coordinator at [email protected] with the following: team name, contact information, and a summary of the team’s accomplishments throughout the year.

The PACE Wild Card Committee will then determine whether to grant this team entry into the NSC and return a decision to the team within seven days of receiving the application.

PACE will open registration for the 2022 NSC to all teams regardless of qualification status on March 1st, 2022. A maximum of two teams from a single school can register for the NSC without qualifying via the traditional tournament placement method. If more than two teams from a single school have qualified through tournament placement, that school cannot register additional teams using open registration until March 21st. Beginning March 21st, 2022, a single school can register any number of teams regardless of qualification.

Any school may now register up to two teams for the 2022 NSC, regardless of qualification status. If a school has qualified more than two teams via tournament performance, they may register up to that number of teams. The two team limit will be removed on March 21st.

Teams registering through open registration may put "Open Registration" as their qualifying tournament on the registration form for the 2022 PACE NSC.

This is a reminder that registration for the 2022 PACE NSC is now open to all teams, regardless of qualifications status, with no cap on teams per school.

PACE would also like to remind teams that your space in the field is not secured until you submit your $100 deposit.

Congratulations to the 2022 PACE National Scholastic Championship winners, Lambert High School of Suwanee, Georgia.

Lambert won 420 - 380 over Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology A of Alexandria, VA in the second round of a disadvantaged final to win the championship, making them the first team in NSC history to do so!

Detailed stats are available on hsquizbowl.org.

Thank you once again to the players, coaches and volunteers of the 2022 PACE NSC! We welcome any questions, comments and feedback at communications [AT] pace-nsc.org.

Full stats can be found here and scoresheets from all the rounds can be found here. If you have any stat corrections, please email [email protected], and try to be as specific about which tossups need fixing so I can more accurately make adjustments.
