Rhododendron Cup (WV) - CANCELED

International Quiz Bowl Tournaments, LLC is pleased to announce the 2021 Rhododendron Cup, a high school quiz bowl tournament we are hosting online using Discord on May 8, 2021. The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. and we will aim to finish no later than 5 p.m. Registration will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. All times are Eastern.
We will be using NAQT’s IS-201 set.
Our tournament format will involve some form of round robin play, with the exact format depending on how many teams register to compete.
This tournament is initially closed to teams only from West Virginia schools. If necessary, the field will open to teams from outside of West Virginia.
Each match will consist of 20 tossups and 20 bonuses. Teams may be made up of up to four players. Teams with less than four players are allowed. Once a player is assigned to a team’s roster at the start of the tournament, those players cannot be moved between teams.
At least the top two teams will receive plaques or trophies for their performance. We will also recognize the highest scoring individual players. This tournament will be a qualifier for NAQT HSNCT and PACE NSC.
Fred Morlan will be the Tournament Director.
We are going to limit our field to 8 teams at first. This is to ensure we have enough moderators to support our field. As we recruit more staff, we will expand the field as we are able to. Until then, we will have a waitlist, from which teams will be admitted into the field. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
The entry fee is $75 per team.
