Qwiz is offering FREE live Quizbowl Classes!

Post by Joshua Rutsky »

Bored? Frustrated? Feeling the no-quizbowl blues? Qwiz is teaching FREE Live Quizbowl Classes to help ease the pain!

It’s been a rough year for the quizbowl world. What started out as another promising season has been derailed completely by the outbreak of the coronavirus and the need for people to practice social distancing, ideally remaining at home as we attempt to slow the growing problem. We’ve been cut off from friends and from activities, and we’ve seen the year’s work and preparation lost in many cases as event after event has been cancelled.

We can’t make the coronavirus go away. We can’t give you back your shot at the State or National Championships. We can’t snap our fingers and fix it all.

What we can do is ask “What can I do to make it better?”

We asked ourselves what we here at Qwiz could do to contribute to the community at this time, and we decided to try to give people at home a chance to take their mind off the world and focus on quizbowl again, even if it’s just for an hour. We decided we would offer Virtual Qwiz C.A.M.P. webinars during the coming weeks as free opportunities for all those players who are missing the game.

Virtual Qwiz C.A.M.P. (Creative Alternate Method of Presentation) is a webinar on a quizbowl topic of interest led by an instructor who understands the topic and the game. These free sessions run approximately one hour, with new topics on Tuesday and Thursday of each week. They are live events, so you can ask questions during the presentation if you need something clarified or want more information. Participants also get the opportunity to participate in the One Cool Thing contest and win some cool Qwiz stuff from our Warehouse O’ Swag™!

While these are free events, we do have limited space in each webinar. We can only take the first 100 registrants for each webinar, so you’ll want to register early for the ones you want to attend! The links to the registration pages will be posted below each week.

Like we said, this is our way of giving back to the community we care so much about. That said, we also want it to be the best experience we can provide, so please let us know if you have comments or suggestions about what we could do differently or about a subject you would like us to cover! We’re always ready to listen at [email protected].

Hang tough, Qwizzers. Let’s make the best of this together!
