Hey folks,
With MSNCT cancelled, I'm planning on running an online middle school tournament on a high school regular-difficulty housewrite (aka about the same difficulty level as the MSNCT playoffs). I hope to have a full announcement in the next day or two, when I have finalized what set we'll be using, but I wanted to post now in case anyone's reading the forums after the MSNCT cancellation news, so they know to check this space soon. You also needn't worry if I'll find a set -- I already have approval to use one, but at least one top MS team has played it, so I'd like to use a different one if possible. You can also consider this a preliminary call for staff.
I also wanted to solicit a couple pieces of advice on it:
-- I am strongly leaning towards making the tournament tossups-only; does anyone have a huge objection to that?
-- Assuming we go with tossups-only, I don't think there should be a need for any more anti-cheating precautions than "look out for it and be suspicious of people with way better statlines than they put up IRL". If anyone has any suggestions for anti-cheating precautions that wouldn't be a huge burden, I'm all ears, though. (My philosophy on this, incidentally, is that I'd rather 49 students get to enjoy a great day of quizbowl and 1 student cheats, than 0 students get to play quizbowl. But obviously 0 cheaters would be better.)
I should also make clear that this isn't affiliated with NAQT at all and is solely my project. But I do think it'd be neat if we could get many of the top MS teams in the country and have a good day of competition.
Watch this space for a full announcement soon.

Re: Online MS tournament (see the actual announcement)
Well, the WAIT editors did a very good job of getting back to me quickly (thanks!)
A post is up here. My questions still stand.
