MSU Fall Tournament (10/4/08) Starkville, MS

Post by jhn31 »

I could've sworn I already posted a topic about this weeks ago but it appears to be gone...

The MSU Quiz Bowl Club will be hosting the 2008 MSU Fall Tournament, held on the
campus of Mississippi State University on October 4, 2008. The tournament will
use NAQT packet 78-A.

This is our second annual fall tournament. Jackson Prep was our winner last
year, and statistics from last year's tournament can be found here:
http://www.freewebs.com/jhn31/071020%20 ... dings.html

The tournament will be run with NAQT rules, found here:
http://www.naqt.com/rules.html.
The only exception to the rules is that the matches will not be untimed, but run
in two 10-question halves.

The fee for the tournament is $60 per team, with a $10 discount for bringing a
working buzzer seat. Also, schools from outside Mississippi will receive an
additional $10 discount. You may pay on the date of the tournament, or mail your
check to:

PO Box 1579
Mississippi State, MS 39762

If you would like to register, please email me at [email protected]. If you have
any questions, feel free to email me or call me at 601-750-0591.

Thanks

Here's what the field is currently looking like:

Clinton (1)
George County (1)
Itawamba (2)
Madison Central (3)
MLK Magnet (1)
St. Andrew's (1)
Wesson (2)

It's not too late if anyone else is interested.

MLK Magnet stormed through the field to go 10-0 and win the tournament. They defeated St. Andrew's 420-35 in the final. Jackson Prep defeated Clinton 270-225 to take third.

Tournament format was two brackets of 8 teams, round robin, leading to 8-team final single elimination tournament.
