This is the same day as HFT so Harvard and some MIT people (who are helping to staff HFT) won't be able to come. If you moved the tournament to Sunday that would allow Harvard and MIT to bring many teams and also allow any interested high school students attending HFT to play if they wanted.

That would work out especially well since the group rate we're arranging for HFT allows us to get more rooms in the Harvard Square Hotel (and for a damn good price) if we ask for two nights--so the population of high schoolers who would be able to play, assuming they went with the cheap hotel price we can provide, would be substantial.

Also, yeah, I'd kind of like to play this, as would the rest of Harvard and bits of MIT that are helping us out. So that's a good reason too.

I probably have to be away on many fridays or saturdays this semester so I'll always support more sunday tournaments.

Sure, Eric's pretty cool.

Okay, I'll look into changing the date to Sunday, 11/16. The only problem is that there is a Hebrew school taught in classrooms in that academic quad on Sundays, but we should be able to obtain enough rooms regardless.

Okay, unfortunately Brandeis bureaucracy forbids booking classrooms on campus before 3 p.m. on Sundays. Please e-mail me if you can still send teams!

One more update: If teams are interested in playing the RMP side tournament, we would be happy to host it. Please let me know ASAP.

If I can convince Dallas not to go to the game, the two of us are totally playing this. Otherwise, it seems unlikely.

You know, even though I'm flying up to Boston mostly because of Splash, I'm also looking forward to playing this tournament. Right now, it seems that I will be playing lots of games against the Brandeis house team. It would be nice if teams in the northeast decided to sign up for this tournament; please do so.

Also, to anyone interested: While we aren't holding a two-day tournament, I'm definitely up for mirroring the lit, buzzer race, and hilarious ACF submission material that Andrew announced.

Barring something catastrophic, I will gladly fill the role of last place team by playing this thing solo.

Given that Doug and Jonathan are probably like my two favorite individuals to play ever, this looks like it'll be a good time. Triple round robin, anyone?

Oh, it's possible that we'll have a freshman coming late-ish in the day; she wants to watch at least some of the game. Forgive her; it's her first one. But it's also pretty cool that she's only ever played EFT before and she wants to play this tournament doubles, so I give her props for that.

There's a conspicuous absence of teams such as Harvard and Yale from this tournament. I will try to convince people at Brown to come up for this, but we have a transportation issue that might prevent us from coming.

We'll be bringing buzzers, by the way. I say "we" because now Brian and I are playing, and Natalie's still joining in the afternoon. Yay.

Awesome. This will basically end up being a doubles tournament (with the exception of Harvard when Natalie comes and one MIT team), final field as follows:

1. YetFeld
2. Harvard
3. Jonathan Magin
4. MIT A
5. MIT B
6. MIT C

Tournament results: The Ghost of Albert Pinkham Ryder won the tournament, with Jonathan Magin taking the scoring title at 121.5 PPG. Full results can be found at http://people.brandeis.edu/~hkirsch/IO/.

Thank you again to those who came, to Brian Young for statkeeping while playing, and to Trygve et al. A fun time was had by all, especially with Impossible Speedcheck.
