MO myth tournament postponed

Post by Auks Ran Ova »

Hey, people coming to Minnesota Open: I figured I should announce this sooner rather than later so the effects on travel plans will be minimized. Due to an abundance of other work this summer and fall semester, both quizbowl-related and otherwise, I'm not going to have enough time to write the mythology side tournament I had planned to. Be assured, though, I haven't given up on ever writing it, and it will show up somewhere, at some tournament, eventually.

Thanks.

Can the Social Sci/Philo tournament that was slated for CO happen at MO?

I am dubious at best about the odds of completely re-writing 100 questions by MO, particularly since I'm busy with PACE and I know Trygve has IO on the horizon, among other things. I don't see this as particularly likely.

Is there a chance the myth tournament might happen if it became more of a collaborative thing? I'm sure there are people who might be interested in that.

No, I'm afraid that I won't have time to reconstruct the set before then.

However, perhaps JECHT could happen on Friday night? That might make it easier for people who need to be at class on Monday morning to arrange travel plans.

That's up to Jeremy, though I think the concerns about Friday night events being too hard to get to might play a factor here. We might just host the first-ever Minnesota Quizbowl Basketball Scrimmage on Friday night, for anyone who gets here early.

Yeah I would greatly prefer there to be no tournaments on Friday night.

Can I get a hell yeah? I'd totally be down with playing some basketball.

There may the possibility of some food-related event on Friday night following the potential basketball playing.

I would endorse this and am interested in competing.
