Chicago Open Meta Bowl - 7/19/08

Post by Auroni »

Time: Lunchtime

Okay, so just off a random whim, I wrote 20/0 of quizbowl meta questions. Evan Silberman has agreed to read these at lunchtime on Saturday. There's no registration involved and all you have to do is pay attention.

In case anyone is concerned about the timing of this taking place during Saturday lunch, I anticipate the entire round lasting no longer than eight minutes. It will be the combined commercial breaks in the sitcom of CO lunchtime, if you will.

Do we actually have to sign up for this, or should we just show up to whatever room Evan is located in during lunch?

yeah, after Evan has gotten his pizza, go to his room and play.

Point of clarification: no buzzers; that way, we can accommodate whoever wants to play.

Is maryland bringing that ridiculously huge buzzer? If so, then I bet everyone could be accomodated with it.

It's probably unlikely that Chris is bringing the Knot on the plane, although I think Chicago has one of them. Nevertheless, there will probably be more than 16 people interested in playing.

I believe that Chicago has a lock-out system to accommodate up to twenty players. For the final two rounds of the 2006 Illinois Open, it was used for three teams (twelve players) with identical records. As for me during our lunchbreak, I prefer to concentrate on vegetarian pizza.

People who are playing Movies will just miss this? Or we can read this twice, since so many people will want to play. 20/0 can go by really fast.

It was excellent - Mukherjee negged on the tossup about his posse, and generally people didn't always win the race to tossups on themselves.

Actually, no one answered the tossup on himself, which was quite entertaining. A tossup to which the answer was meta also appeared in the Trash this morning, making it one of several repeats spread over the tournaments of this weekend.
