Solon PACE - Results (2/17/08)

Post by BobGHHS »

Brief Results:

Besides the question difficulty dropping way off the table in the later rounds... I thought today went well, especially considering some of the readers were horribly slow.

Final Results of the Top Bracket:

1. DCC A
2. Garfield Heights A

Not sure who came in 3rd-6th right now, but will update it later.

DCC beat us in the finals 205-180.

Dan was the high scorer again with 92 ppg, but because he won the scoring title yesterday, they gave it to the 2nd place scorer today, which was Sam Milner from Hawken at 46 ppg.

I want to give props to Russell who took 3rd both days, our match with them today was apparently one of the best matches of the tournament, as we stormed back to power the last three questions after Matt called a timeout to regroup. They were apparently up on us pretty big at one point.

In case you wonder about the low scores, we only played 7 questions in each round, due to difficulties with matches taking too long, especially in the JV brackets.

Since I haven't seen all the stats (Bob Weiser forwarded them to us yesterday), I would like to know which was the "JV bracket" for Sunday. It is not obvious what that is.

I also have to question why one would only read a quarter of the questions, given that the sections are not balanced. You could do it with NAQT's set, but I am sure Gonzaga would have a full-blown mutiny if we had done that.

I'm assuming that you are joking. Otherwise, we won't be able to seat the PACE qualifiers at the upcoming NSC... :) * Certainly it would invalidate the data coming from that qualifier into Dave's ratings system for the tournament if it were true, and we would also lose any useful information to improving the tournament set for the next time.

* Just for clarification: this is a reference to the Michigan and Florida delegation issue for the DNC this summer...

He means we played 7 in the related tossup/bonus round, 7 in the category quiz round, and 7 in the stretch round for a total of 21 questions each game. I think you guys are confusing his definition of round.

I certainly was. I was wondering how he scored 94 ppg on 7 questions...
