A Quiz Bowl T-Shirt?

Post by mceschermaniac4 »

I was in the mall the other day and I saw a guy with a bunch of "You know your a redneck if.." jokes on it. I thought it would be cool to make a "You know your in Quiz Bowl if...." shirt. However, I don't know any of those types of jokes, so please post good jokes in a "You know your in Quiz Bowl if...." type of format. Thanks.

This reminds me of when I was a junior in high school and our quizbowl team got hoodies printed up with a picture of The Thinker holding a buzzer on the front and team nicknames on the back. Does anyone else have quizbowl related t-shirts/hoodies that weren't given out by an event?

Winnetonka in KC has one, but their team totally blows and they never go anywhere, so it doesnt matter.

Team shirts are rather common in Ohio. A few that I could find...

Unfortunately, I have no pics of this, but one JV team had black shirts with white print on the front: a fist surrounded by the text "I'd Rather Be Fighting The Man"

A team that went to HSNCT this year had these shirts...
Front: http://www.lowellville.k12.oh.us/Extra% ... AC%208.JPG
Back: http://www.lowellville.k12.oh.us/Extra% ... C%2010.jpg

Hoodies with names on the back are unoriginal, but common.

Bowling shirts on the rise. http://www.foresthills.edu/turpin/news.htm

OK, so this isn't a shirt, but it's cool anyway...

A personal favorite of mine.

It's hard to see, but it's Vitruvian Man with horns, tail, and pitchfork (school mascot is Red Devils)

PACE members have had polo shirts since we started out with the NSC in 1998. We are looking for someone who would like to redesign our shirts for 2008, but I do not want a "funny" shirt. When we were in Orlando, we did have T-shirts for everyone.

We'll probably keep with a small logo placed in the upper left breast area only.

Alas, I've lobbied unsuccessfully for a T-shirt that says something like, "Moravian Academy Scholastic Scrimmage...we do speed."

Big surprise when our principal rejected my suggestion. I've also campaigned for that slogan on behalf of our XC team, but to no avail.

You could always write "we do speed" in another language.

Our speech team sweatshirts say "we do it orally" in Latin.

For the past several years our scholastic team has had shirts with some form of Mackay Miner Nerd Herd on it...Also last years said on the back "don't hate me because I am smart". We are looking for something new for next year also...

We tried to get shirts that said "Don't be a negger," but this did not go down with our coach.

We're about to begin the process of getting t-shirts with pictures of ourselves on the back, holding buzzers high in the air, with the word Witness underneath.

We were kicking around the idea of making a shirt that read "Kellenberg AQB...feel the buzz." However, we knew our moderator wouldn't agree, seeing as our administration cancelled our prom because of alcohol and other problems.

Ah, I headed the Charter team's attempt at finding a slogan of some sort for a t-shirt. We opted for hoodies.

Ideas included:
The aforementioned "Don't be a negger"

Our team captains seem to have made a habit of using our teams unoffical catchphrase "we got this". So we wanted shirts that would say "We've got" near the pocket and either a big T, H, I, or S on the center of the shirt. Assuming there were duplicates, clever player placement could result in many fun words.

Dwight's old catchphrase of "Theres no shame in quiz-bowl, only points" but it seems some other teams have adopted it so we dropped that idea.

We finally chose royal blue hoodies with white lettering (our schools colors). On the pocket is an emblem of a shield with a orbital diagram of the atom, pi, a globe, and a book inside the shield. Above the shield reads "Charter Academic Bowl" and below the shield reads "The Knights Tresslar" (a nod to the Knights Templar and our teams coach Bill Tressler). The back reads "All your BACED are belong to us". The line obviously references the internet meme but base was replaced with BACED because at the 2006 DE State Tournament that is the position our teams finished (ie, five of the top six teams in Delaware were Charter teams [but thats not saying much, we are the only team in Delaware that travels  ]).

Next year we plan to do t-shirts with the same design but the place we order from also does hats, sweatpants, etc, so anything is possible (quiz-bowl underwear?).

That has to be the silliest shirt idea ever.
Better yet people, don't waste money on a shirt, just wear whatever you have at home.

Back when I was in high school, the league my school played in actually required uniforms. In fact, I believe the rule was that if your team played without uniforms, you began with a score of -30.

So some people may be doing this due to structural imperatives rather than lameness.

True, but any official who decides that teams need to have uniforms should be attacked by the TJ robot factory.

This is true for the IHSA State Series, and they also have the rule that you can't substitute in a player who doesn't match.

For the Masonic state tournament, no matching uniforms = forfeit. Of course, their 'dress code' stipulates no ripped pants, no miniskirts, and several other things deemed 'tasteless'.

During my junior year of high school, one of the bigwigs at the local Masonic Lodge offered to buy the entire team matching polo shirts with our names embroidered. Of course, he also did this for the local Catholic high school, but not for the other public nor the other private high school.

Our team t-shirts had a quote from an eccentric teacher that read

It was great.
