Embarrassing Answers/powers

Post by Sen. Estes Kefauver (D-TN) »

These are lots of fun. Basically, what early buzzes have you given that show you know way too much about something.

One of mine was at UM-Rolla's spring tournament:

Reader: This group was founded by Carmen Electra [buzz]
Me: Pussycat Dolls
Reader: Yes, or just PCD.

Another: Her new boyfriend is an Australian surfer named Blaine [buzz]
Me: Barbie

My coach was reading that match and he gave me the look like "you're off the team for knowing that"

Cool, a resurrection of my old "Worst Powers/Early Buzzes" thread.

Not exactly, purely from the reason that they are actually very good powers. I knew it, so I deserved to get it first first. However, it was incredibly embarrassing that I knew so much about the Pussycat Dolls.

Umm, that's precisely what I meant. That was part of the purpose of the old thread, in case you didn't notice.

For example,
"Its mascot was nicknamed Mongo by Fox NASCAR commentator..."

Buzz: Sirius Satellite Radio

too much knowledge...

Actually that's literally the only thing I know about the Pussycat Dolls.

Also, don't forget last year's question at NAQT Nationals about Snakes on a Plane. I'm sure I wasn't the only person who demonstrated way too much knowledge about that topic.

Personally, I've managed to thirty bonuses singlehandedly on naming all the Golden Girls and their former husbands, My Super Sweet Sixteen, and Stacked. As far as tossups go, yesterday at practice I got The Abyss off of "The Humane Society protested a scene where a rat was held underwater" and answered a Terrell Owens question off of, "He played a number of sports at UT Chattanooga and got drafted..."

One I got: 'Candace Cameron and Jodie Sweetin..." Buzz: Full House.

To anyone who has ever seen at least one episode of the show, it probably wasn't that hard, but I was still made fun of just because I powered a toss up on Full House.

I think I brought this up in an earlier thread, but it bears repeating, as it was embarassing.

"This actress turned singer was born on September 28, 1987..."
BUZZ
"Hilary Duff?"

I've officially been a Lutheran for too long...I recognized the 95 Theses between the 2nd and 3rd sentences of it (not sure where they fall in the actual document). I've never actually read the Theses.

I know what you mean... I think I have hit every Martin Luther question (tournament or practice) this year in the first sentence.

Wow, I had to wait until they mentioned the Hollywood Processor on a different Wii question to get it. That's pretty impressive.

Very impressive indeed, getting it from only one dimension given...wow!
