DART IV Writing Application (HSNCT level)

Post by 21_Cabbage »

Hello everyone! After receiving interest from high school and college players, I have decided to renew DART for one more year, making this the FOURTH edition! The application to write is now open to anybody currently in high school or older. Unlike previous editions, DART IV is not affiliated with Detroit Country Day, and writers can expect to be paid for their work. A full announcement for this set is forthcoming.

Although applicants need no prior writing experience, we ask that they submit at least TWO tossups and TWO bonuses written specifically for DART IV as part of the application. Submissions must include at least ONE tossup and ONE bonus from each preferred category(s) indicated on the application. During set production, writers will not be strictly limited to writing in the categories they indicated on the application.

Tossups are capped at 550 characters - slightly shorter than the questions from previous editions of DART. Bonuses may not exceed seven lines - not including answerlines. This year's target difficulty is comparable to that of HSNCT. We aim to create a set that high school teams can use to prepare for nationals and for casual collegiate players hoping to play a moderately difficult NAQT-esque set. We will evaluate writing submissions by difficulty graduation, engaging clues, appropriate answerlines, and a clear and concise writing style. Writers will be accepted on a rolling basis until we reach full capacity. Please consider applying here!
