Announcement: HAHA (tentatively 2024)

Post by Krik? Krik?! KRIIIIK!!! »

I would like to announce HAHA (Hard, Academic(ish), but Hilarious Tournament) - an all tossup set covering the history of comedy that will have somewhere between 8-10 packets of 20 questions - maybe a few more if I have time and ideas.

I thought it would be fitting to announce this on April Fool's Day - and also give myself public reason to follow through and finish it (and also an excuse I guess if I don't? but maybe I'm overthinking this) - although I don't plan on being ready until sometime in the 2024 season since my focus is on other sets right now.

A tentative distribution:
5 Comedy - Comedians, Comedy Techniques, Jokes, Gags, and pretty much anything else relating to humor. Pretty wide net here.
3 Movies
3 TV
2 Literature
2 Mixed Humanities/Humor from a more academic perspective. History, philosophy, etc.
2 The Internet
3 Mixed/Other

My vision with this set is to be more than a "meme packet" or "questions trying to be funny," but rather combining a diverse look at what people have thought of as "funny" and how that has been interpreted as well as some fun approaches to pop culture content. I would like to include some more mature content in here as well, but will fairly selective here: I'd like for this set to have a "PG-13" rating and will be playtesting to make sure this happens.

I'll post updates and distribution changes here over the coming months.

Hindsight is 20/20 or something like that - I corrected the original post!

The post still says "all tossup set" before listing things like 5/5 Comedy and 3/3 Movies.

Are you like the Kenny Bania of tournament announcements?

Maybe the real April Fool's Joke was me getting a little too excited writing this up and not catching those last night! Thanks, Mike.

The fun answer is that I can tell you to study your grandma's facebook for points.

The serious answer is that I'm going to try and take a pretty neutral perspective on "political humor," preferably staying away from more inflammatory material.
