MRNA II @ Boston College (3/25/2023)

Boston College Quiz Bowl is pleased to announce that the Northeast site of MRNA II will be held in-person at Boston College on Saturday, March 25th. The tournament will be hosted in Stokes Hall South, and Dyson Ye will serve as tournament director. The opening meeting will be held at 9:00 AM EST.

Rules and Eligibility:
This tournament will use ACF's gameplay rules and eligibility rules.

Registration
In order to register for this site, please email [email protected] with the following information:

• number of teams you plan to send
• number of buzzer sets you will bring
• names and contact information of staffers

The registration deadline is March 23rd.

Fees
The entrance fee for each team is as follows:

• Base fee: $120
• -$10 for each working set of buzzers
• -$15 for each approved moderator
• -$10 per 200 miles traveled one way (according to Google Maps)
• -$40 for each shorthanded team (1-2 players)
• Minimum fee: $50

I think a player on our team was interested in playing BHSU @ Yale on the same day viewtopic.php?t=26763 (which might also cause some conflicts for getting outside staffers); would 3/25 maybe be an option (or would that run into spring breaks for teams)?

It seems like in general April is pretty booked (April 1 ICT, April 8 BHSU, April 22 Nats + for us we're hosting the HFT Mainsite on April 15), but I guess it wouldn't be possible to find a date that works for everyone.

With a similar idea, given that MRNA would probably draw a larger field, would a Sunday BHSU work, with an MRNA-BHSU double weekend perhaps on 4/8, 4/9? That is, if it would work for the Yale people of course.

4/8 and 4/9 should both work for us. We already have 4/8 approved by our university, but I think we could also get 4/9 without any problems.

The only concern would be that 4/8 and 4/9 are both during our Easter break. Would 3/25 or 4/16 be good candidates as well?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! We originally planned for it to be closed, but decided to host an open tournament due to lack of teams. I forgot to update the eligibility section in the main post. It should be fixed now.
