The Quiz Bowl Club at UC Berkeley is pleased to announce that the California site of BHSU will be held at UC Berkeley on Saturday, March 18th, 2023. The opening meeting will begin at 8:45 AM PT and gameplay will begin at 9:00 AM PT. Please direct any questions about this site to [email protected].

Tournament and Gameplay Rules
The tournament will take place in-person at UC Berkeley. While we cannot require people to be fully vaccinated, we strongly encourage that all attendees be fully vaccinated. This tournament will follow ACF’s official gameplay rules, which can be found here.

Eligibility
This is an open tournament, so everyone is eligible to play.

Registration
Here is an unofficial team formation spreadsheet. The initial field cap is 6 teams. To officially register, please email [email protected] with the subject line "Registration for BHSU @ Berkeley" with the following information:
1) roster
2) the number of buzzers you will be bringing
3) the emails of the staffers you will be providing
5) and the total expected cost


Fees:
Tournament fees/discounts are the following:
+$140 per attending team
-$70 if playing shorthanded (1 or 2 players)
-$10 per working buzzer system (must have power cord and 8 functional buzzers, maximum three buzzer systems per organization)
-$15 per experienced moderator with laptop (must be familiar with quiz bowl rules/scoring, and have good pronunciation, speed, and reading skills)
-$10 if your team has to travel more than 200 miles one way, according to Google Maps
Minimum fee: $50 per team
