2023 NAQT SCT at Georgia Tech (2/4)

I am pleased to announce that Georgia Tech will host the Southeast site of the 2023 NAQT Sectional Championship Tournament on Saturday, February 4, 2023.

Location: This tournament will take place in-person at the Georgia Institute of Technology at the Howey Physics Building, located at 837 State Street NW, Atlanta, GA, 30313. We will start gameplay at 8:45 AM.

Since there are other mirrors of SCT at the University of Mississippi, the University of Central Florida, and at the University of North Carolina, we would like to advise teams to make a decision of which site to attend based on costs and proximity; this site is mainly intended for teams within a 2 hour driving distance of Georgia Tech, but we will accept registrations from teams who decide to attend our mirror. We are setting a tentative field cap of 12 teams.

Fees:

Base fees: $160 base fee for the first team from a school; $135 for second or subsequent teams

Discounts:

$10 discount per working buzzer system (must accommodate at least eight players)

$40 discount per experienced moderator

$20 discount (per team) for schools new to quizbowl (neither competed in nor hosted SCT/ICT in 2021 or 2022)

$20 discount (per team) for teams that travel 200 or more miles one-way (distance measured from your campus to Georgia Tech as measured by Google Maps)

Payment will be taken at check-in or via PayPal invoice on February 4.

This tournament happened. In Division 1, Georgia Tech A claimed the overall and Undergraduate titles. In Division 2, Georgia Tech C won a final against Georgia Tech D to place first. Thank you to all teams who competed today, and especially to our staffers Hanna Qi, Nathan White, Valerie Ogonor, Michael Zhou and Quentin Mot, without whom this tournament would not have been possible.
