Reinstein Varsity using C++ & 216A (Barrington, IL on 12/17/22)

Post by Stained Diviner »

The 2022 Reinstein Varsity Tournament will take place on December 17 at Barrington High School in Chicagoland. We will have an Über-Competitive Division and a Standard Division. The C++ Set will be used in the Über-Competitive Division, and NAQT IS-216A will be used in the Standard Division. (The same A Set is being used at Hendricks Memorial and Pretzel.)

To register for the tournament, use the NAQT website. If you have any questions, IM me or email me at [email protected]. Team names must be the name of the high school that the students attend. Checks should be made out to Reinstein QuizBowl and sent to Reinstein QuizBowl; PO Box 57; 125 Schelter Road; Lincolnshire, IL 60069.

Because the two divisions are using different questions, and the Über-Competitive Division questions are very difficult for high school students, we are allowing all teams to register for the division of their choice. This means that there may be some very strong teams in the Standard Division. The tournament format will be determined based on the number of entries for each division.

This competition will follow NAQT untimed rules, with each match lasting 20/20.

The cost is $120 per team, which covers lunch for the students and coach. There is not a buzzer discount, but we expect teams to bring buzzers unless they have a good reason not to. Teams traveling long distances or who are in financial hardship can request a discount.

FAQ
Q: Do you need staff?
A: Yes, but we only need them if they have a laptop or tablet with functioning wifi.

We will play by NAQT rules except matches will be 20/20 instead of timed. That means 15-point powers, 5-point interrupt penalties, no bonus rebounds, and 4-on-4.

I will take any team that registers by the end of the day Friday, 12/9. After that, I will only accept teams if I have enough staff and their presence improves the tournament format.

Speaking of staff, I could use a couple more staffers, so contact me if you are interested.

We're full. Evanston B is the last team in. Anybody registering at this point will go on the waitlist.

I still need more staffers.

Did DCDS drop out or did I dream that they were registered in the first place?
