Schools and players to watch 2022-23:

Among our large schools, Waukee is the defending state champion and should have an excellent roster led by Miles Sierra. Waukee Northwest returns a nearly full roster that went to PACE NSC in 2022, including co-captains Garrett Attaway and Christian Hollister. Ames will be competitive again with returning NASAT and All-State player Aneesh Shrotryia, as will Ankeny, and emerging teams in Marshalltown and Urbandale should provide enjoyable compeititon. Noah Rolwes and Nathan Casey return to a Western Dubuque squad which will be elevated to the Large-School Division this year.

In our small school division, Boyer Valley returns with super sophomores Tony Kuker (Team Iowa) and Ben Lantz. A surprise team from last year was Riverside, featuring Team Iowa's Brett Feuring and Solo Challenge winner Abe Schechinger. Other schools that should provide good competition include Lawton-Bronson, Bishop Garrigan of Algona, Bishop Heelan of Sioux City, Bellevue, Underwood, Logan-Magnolia, Sergeant Bluff-Luton, and an always-tough Chariton team which seems to get better as the season moves along with All-Stater Ethan Werts returning for his sophomore year.
