I created a Google Docs Add-On that adds a sidebar containing word and character counts for all the questions in a (properly-formatted) category Google Doc. Here is a screenshot of it being used on leftover science questions from WORKSHOP 2022:
Its main features are automatic handling of bonus structure and initial instructions like description acceptable and fully customizable word/character count limits separately for tossups and bonuses.
Installation instructions can be found here.
Discord or FB message me or post here if you have suggestions or encounter issues.

Re: Wordcounter: A Google Docs Add-On
Updates:
- wordcounter works for any document formatting (including final packets), rather than needing a specific heading layout
- the output is now formatted in a much easier-to-read table (see the github for screenshots)
- the internal logic for identifying question/answerline text has been made much more robust, and should now handle weirdly-formatted questions.

Re: Wordcounter: A Google Docs Add-On
Awesome tool! Works pretty well based on my preliminary usage on C++ questions. Are there any plans to make this into a Google Workspace Marketplace add-on? Not sure how complicated it would be, but I'm thinking it would make it easier to install / use across multiple google docs.
