AIAA GHS is tentatively planning the in-person tournament listed below. We hope to hold it at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, but we haven't yet gotten final confirmation from UAH. They want to wait until after the new year to see what the COVID numbers look like. In any case, the number of teams we can accommodate will heavily depend on the number of classrooms available as well as the number of moderators and scorekeepers we can gather. Ideally, I would like to include a middle school division, but I'm not yet committing to that since I don't know if I'll have enough space and volunteers to support it. A lot of the volunteers will be AIAA members, but if there are any members of the quiz bowl community willing to help with this tournament, please send me an e-mail ([email protected]). I would love to have an ASCA member who can serve as a judge to handle protests. A stats person would also be great.

On Feb. 5, registration for the AIAA Rocket City Invitational will be open to any high school team in Alabama. I'm happy to say we have enough volunteers and classroom capacity to raise the cap to 18 teams. We're still restricting registration to one team per school.

Through the generous sponsorship of Jacobs Space Exploration Group and ERC, the top 4 teams will receive the following cash prizes for their schools' Scholars' Bowl programs:

1st: $1000
2nd: $750
3rd: $500
4th: $250

As of 2/13/22 there are only 4 slots remaining. Any team in Alabama is invited to register, but we're only allowing one team per school.

As of 3/13/22 there is one open slot for this tournament. Any Alabama high school or middle school team is invited to register, but again, we're only allowing one team per school.
