RESULTS: Danville Academic Tournament (9/23/06) in KY

Post by mknupp »

I know this is early, but Danville High School will be hosting a tournament on september 23rd 2006. It will be a four quarter format. I wanted to give coaches advance notice since it is somewhat early in the season.

field limits

Post by mknupp »

We do have a field limit of 60 teams. If needed, we can have a JV and Varsity division.

I believe it's Kentucky...Danville, Alabama doesn't have much of a quiz bowl tradition as far as I can tell.

They may someday, but the poster was the former coach at Dunbar out of Lexington (Kentucky, not the small town in NW Alabama  ) and went to Danville...there supposed to be really, really, really good

yeah
Knupp is building a strong program in Danville. He was our former JV coach and is really doing well with Danville. He took a very weak team, and turned it into one of the top 5 programs in the state within one year.

Our tournament is three weeks away. We still have room. Our field currently includes:

White Cloud MI
Danville
Dunbar
Johnson County
Ashland
Boyd Co.
Pike Co. Central
Paintsville
Danville Bate MS
Spring Valley WV

Several of these schools are bringing multiple teams.

We hope to have 30 or more teams in the end, and can handle as many as 50.

If you need an entry form, email [email protected]

Results

Post by mknupp »

I would like to thank everyone who braved the storms to come. We only had one team not able to attend. In all 30 teams from 17 schools competed. After the morning rounds Johnson Central had earned the top seed for the playoffs with Detriot Catholic Central not far behind as the second seed.

Playoff results:

1st: DCC A
2nd: Johnson Central A
Semis: Paintsville A, Pikeville
Quarters: Cabell Midland A, Paul Blazer A, Johnson Central C, Central Hardin A
Round of 16: Fleming Co. A, DCC B, Piarist A, White Cloud, Ripley, Eastern, Johnson Central B, Hurricane A

Thanks to all players and coaches for coming. Hopefully next year will be even better.
