So, I was idly curious about what sort of cred this (to me, okay, and only okay) Robyn song had among the gay community, since that's a stated reason many posters have been using to justify their votes for it. Doesn't bother me; I'm just so detached from the general culture that I wouldn't catch these things even if I wanted to. Anyway, a friend invited me to a gay bar last night, and guess what song is playing as I'm walking through the door. Huh.
Kanye West (ft. Pusha-T) - Runaway vs. Frank Ocean - Pyramids
Focused song vs. unfocused song.
Perhaps a different choice if I put more thought into it, but what comes to mind first is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Okq8xHrIZ8I

I don't think it encapsulated the decade or anything like that, but I greatly enjoyed "Beautiful" by Wussy.

"Amanaemonesia" by Chairlift is a standout on an album I love a whole lot. EDIT: and apparently has a great video that I'm choosing to interpret as a 2010s feminist update of David Byrne's dancing.

Looks like neither of these songs are going to win, which is a damn shame. While "Dancing on My Own" is great, the reason for like half of the "best of the decade" lists circulating on the internet (as well as quiz bowlers, it may seem) to unanimously declare this the best song of the decade eludes me. Hopefully Frank can at least put up a fight in the other match up.
In terms of songs I could theoretically call my "favorite" of the decade, here's "1539 N. Calvert" by JPEGMAFIA, which has some of the greatest bars of the decade:

I missed the part about linking to your personal favorite song of the decade. I think that mine may be "Other Boys" by Eleanor Friedberger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peTHlafxhwg

no
extremely no
EDIT: oops, missed the "personal favorite" thing! I already posted a bunch of Sleigh Bells songs that I've fallen in love with recently, so in similar overproviding style, here's some other stuff I listened to a lot.
-"What's in the Box", "Go Down in History", and especially "We All Float Down Here" by Four Year Strong, a band I discovered by accidentally clicking on some sort of pop punk playlist in the Youtube suggested videos column
-"Can't Complain", by the dearly departed Bomb The Music Industry!
-"Worship You", the actual best song from Modern Vampires of the City, and "Harmony Hall", by Vampire Weekend
-"Fade Away", by Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfør
-"Out of the Woods", an underrated(?) Taylor Swift song
-"Foreign Object" and "The Legend of Chavo Guerrero", by the Mountain Goats
-"Rumor Mill" by We Are the In Crowd
-"Tear In My Heart" by Twenty One Pilots
okay that's almost certainly enough out of me.

We all know the real song of the decade is Despacito: massively influential and endlessly fun. However, I'll leave a link to something else.

as for my favorites:
It might be Pompeii by Bastille, but that's for sentimental reasons. My favorite song is probably Fourth of July, tbh. Or "I Am The One Who Will Remember Everything" by Dar Williams.

One of my personal favorite songs of the decade comes from one of my favorite video game soundtracks of all time (from one of the best video games of all time, if not the decade). C418's original soundtrack for Minecraft is a collection of 24 iconic, serenely beautiful songs (save for Thirteen) that all take me back to my childhood, and Subwoofer Lullaby is one of the most infectiously catchy, yet peaceful tracks on the album.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpd85y_iTxY
other songs that I'd consider top favorites are Reborn - Kids See Ghosts, Endless Fantasy - Anamanaguchi, and Papaoutai - Stromae.

A heavenly piece of music tbh. This is technically a cover of two tracks but the original tracks are from this decade too so I'm counting it. Please check out the channel if you like the cover :
Gris Part 1 and 2

I should clarify that it's not my channel because it kind of reads like that to me. I'm just a huge fan of the channel and it's massively underrated.

Favorite 2010s song: Honestly, depends on what kind of mood I’m in. Happy: https://youtu.be/OS3GqQY4u54, Depressive yet Introspective: https://youtu.be/fEQyi6eCxWw https://youtu.be/JIitQNXVgb8 Angry: https://youtu.be/_f_jaqLLPTU and Introspective: https://youtu.be/rtL5oMyBHPs, and https://youtu.be/WQ_LD317pMM
One sentence summary on why each song is a fave
Touch-Tone Telephone: Touch-Tone Telephone is a ridiculously fun song that is great to sing in your head to. It also sounds like a less problematic early Oingo Boingo, which is great
Beautiful Blue Sky: Beautiful Blue Sky is a song that manages to achieve discomfort through its use of droning and it works to great effect. One of my two favorite songs if I need to invoke a form of discomfort.
Wasted Days: My other favorite discomfort track, but through completely different methods. Wasted Days builds power through catharsis, having a full 6 minute guitar solo section building to one haunting as hell climax. One of the most haunting and best songs of the 2010s
Brian Eno: A perfect song to rage to, without sounding like rage music to the outside ear.
Little Dark Age: A great listening song, plus probably the best synthpop/darkwave hook of the 2010s.
The Fog: Probably the most beautiful of the 2010s synthpop/darkwave revival, my favorite musical revival of the 2010s.
Sorry I went on for so long, I just feel a decade can’t just have one true best song. Thanks for reading

"Night Shift" by Lucy Dacus is breathtaking and "Road Head" by Japanese Breakfast is alluring
As with all of these brackets, I greatly enjoyed listening to the songs I hadn't heard before and would like to participate in future music brackets that maximize that. Maybe we could do one themed around something broad (ie, "breakup songs" or "late 2000s jams") and then ask everyone to pitch into a collaborative playlist from which an appointed person could devise a march madness style bracket?

Re: Best Song of the 2010s Bracket
Robyn - Dancing on My Own vs. Kanye West (ft. Pusha-T) - Runaway - I don't in any way think either of these songs are "the best song of the 2010s", but the nature of brackets means that I'm just gonna choose the one I like more. It's actually fairly close between these two--they're both perfectly fine songs!
The bracket could have been improved by consisting entirely of songs that I liked, to make (my) voting deliberations more interesting. I believe it is incumbent on all future bracket-makers to choose only songs that I either already like or will come to like in a relatively small number of listens. I will not, of course, be constructing any brackets myself.
Unironically, thanks for doing this, William!

Re: Best Song of the 2010s Bracket
Runaway - I persist in my opinion that "Dancing on My Own" is merely okay.
As for bracket construction, I don't think it's the first time this has been said in this thread, but it wold have been nice to have had more representation from gigantic pop hits, perhaps by scouring "Weeks at #1" lists or top sales numbers of some kind. This bracket was good in having inclusions from many different genres, but the critic-focused criteria resulted in too many indie darlings and ambient songs replacing songs that were more lowbrow but undeniably popular.

Re: Best Song of the 2010s Bracket: A Runaway Victory
Congratulations to Runaway for its win (14-12) over Dancing on My Own, meaning it is unequivocally and definitively the greatest song released between 2010 and 2019. In all seriousness, I hope y'all enjoyed this bracket and discovered some new music. See you in the 2020s!
