2020 ACF Regionals at Rutgers University (01/25/2020)

Post by Votre Kickstarter Est Nul »

I am pleased to announce that the Upper Mid-Atlantic site of 2020 ACF Regionals will be held at Rutgers University on Saturday, January 25, 2020. The tournament will take place at Scott Hall, with team check-in beginning at 8:15 AM in a tbd room in Scott Hall and gameplay beginning at 9 AM. I, Emmett Laurie, will be the tournament director. Please direct any questions about this site to me at [email protected].

Eligibility
In general, teams where players are all attending the same school and all taking at least one class for credit during the 2019-2020 school year are eligible to play 2020 ACF Regionals. ACF’s full eligibility rules are available here. Questions about eligibility should be directed to [email protected].

Rules
This tournament will follow ACF’s official gameplay rules.

Registration
Fill out the central 2020 ACF Regionals registration form with all relevant information. The form is here: https://forms.gle/2muU28fo5GxczdPA8. The field for each site can be found here. The field cap is 24, after which teams will be placed on a waitlist. Please register by January 20, 2020 at the latest.

  • New to quizbowl discount: –$100

  • Buzzers: –$10 per functional system
  • Staffers: –$15 per staffer with functional laptop

The new to quizbowl discount is intended for schools that did not send a team to any regular collegiate academic tournament (exclusively Novice tournaments do not count) since September 2018, and have no one on the team(s) claiming this discount who played those tournaments for another school.

Packet Discounts/Penalties
Any team with at least two people on it who played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament (either as a college student or as a high school student) prior to September 1, 2018 is required to submit a half-packet. If they have not already requested them, teams will receive their distribution after registering. If you are unsure whether your team is required to submit a half-packet, please email ACF at [email protected].

The submission schedule is as follows (your submission must be sent to [email protected] by 11:59 PM PDT):

I'd like to hold a mirror of SCREEN TEST, a visual film side event, after this tournament. The mirror fee is $13. If you or your teammates are interested, please send me an email.

Due to difficulties with international payments, I don't think this is happening. I may still try to host it at a later tournament.

Congratulations to Columbia A (Will Alston, Rafael Krichevsky, Harrison Whittaker, and Noah Chen) for clearing the field, going 11-0, and taking the overall title. Maryland and Columbia B tied for second place, the trophy for which went to Columbia B.

Princeton A took the second game of an advantaged final to take the UG title over Delaware.

The Division 2 title went to Rutgers, who won a three way half-packet tiebreaker over Penn B and Millersville.

Thank you to all of the staffers and teams that made today a successful (I hope) tournament.

Complete stats can be found here. Contact me with any corrections.
