[SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY] STACKS - Call for Editors (Nats Level, 2020-21)

Post by TheScientists »

Hi everyone, this is a call for editors for Systematic Transitional Academic Collegiate Knowledge Set (STACKS), an HS-Nats level housewrite set expected to be available for mirrors in the 2020-21 season.

Production details:
UPDATE (12/23/2019): This project is suspended indefinitely.
We are currently looking for editors! Please email [email protected] or message me on here if you'd be down to edit or write. Both editors and writers will receive compensation.

Vishal Rameshbabu (set founder) and I (logistics manager) are currently leading the setup for this set. While we will be facilitating the formation of a writing and editing team, the editors/writers will be sole force behind the production of this set.

Current writers for this are [redacted due to current suspension of set production].

This set will be 15 packets and will contain 20 tossups and bonuses per packet along with an extra tossup in one of Hist/Lit/Sci/FA/RMPSS. The difficulty is meant to be akin to PACE NSC and STASH.

The STACKS distribution is below.

4/4 History [1.25/1.25 World, 1/1 US, 1/1 European, 0.75/0.75 Ancient]
4/4 Literature [1/1 World, 1/1 American, 1/1 European, 0.5/0.5 Classical, 0.5/0.5 Commonwealth]
4/4 Science [1/1 Biology, 1/1 Physics, 1/1 Chemistry, 0.5/0.5 Astro/Earth Science, 0.25/0.25 Math, 0.25/0.25 Other]
3/3 Fine Arts [1/1 Auditory, 1/1 Visual, 1/1 Audiovisual]
3/3 RMPSS [0.75 Religion, 0.75 Mythology, 0.75 Philosophy, 0.75 Social Science]
1/1 Geography [0.3/0.3 US, 0.7/0.7 World]
0.5/0.5 Trash & Sports [0.2/0.2 Trash, 0.3/0.3 Sports]
0.5/0.5 Current Events

Once we have a confirmed editing team, details regarding mirroring this set will be posted shortly.

To ask any questions or have preliminary interest in this set, please email [email protected] or reply to this post.

Hey, not to try to criticize this project before it happens, but aren’t you the kid we had to repeatedly tell not to try running an online event on recycled NHBB questions?

Yes. I learned from my mistakes regarding NHBB Online, and won't ever do it again.

Ameya, there's no need for another Nationals-level set. Your time would be better spent working on an existing regular/regular-minus set, gaining more experience, and doing the community a favor. That way, you may actually get some editors on your team who want to help you improve as writers and you'll have experience to justify you spearheading your own project in the future.

There is also the question of yours and Vishal's reputations. They need serious clearing up before anyone would be stepping on to the editing team.

Ameya tries to produce a set 2: This Time It’s Functional! I’d suggest that you stop wasting your time by trying to create an unavoidably awful set that will neither get mirrored nor have any semblance of quality whatsoever, since no matter how much you cry wolf about how you “learned from your mistakes,” the mere premise of this set and the fact that you’re its logistics manager may as well damn it to the poor state that it will inevitably end up in. Nobody asked for this set to be created, especially not by you, and it’s probably a good idea to suspend this set and spare your writers their sanity.

I want to make it clear that I offered to write a QUESTION or two once I saw that there was actual potential and that the set had found proper editors and logistical staff. I would appreciate it if I wasn't listed as a permanent writer for the set as I never volunteered to a confirmed long-term writing position on the set at any given point when asked by Ameya to contribute.

I would like to second Vishal's statement - please don't put me on the "permanent writers" list until you can get actual editors on board and also prove that you or others you bring on board can manage this set well.
