Ramblin' Wreck Invitational @ Georgia Tech (10/19/2019)

The Georgia Institute of Technology will host the inaugural Ramblin’ Wreck Invitational, a high school Quiz Bowl tournament on Saturday, October 19th, 2019. This tournament will be running on BLAST, a regular-plus question set. It is comparable in difficulty to the Harvard Fall Tournament and BHSAT, and therefore we caution newer teams signing up to play this. This is a varsity level tournament. Registration

Format
We will be doing round-robin preliminary rounds and then rebracket into playoff groups. All teams are guaranteed a significant number of games. We will cap the tournament at 20 teams. There will be powers, no bouncebacks, individual stats, and 4 to a team.

Location and Time:
Games will take place in the Howey Physics building on the Georgia Tech campus. Please check in between 8:00 and 8:30; the opening meeting will start promptly at 8:45 and rounds will start immediately thereafter.

Fees and Payment:
Base fee: $70 per team
Buzzer: -$5/approved system
Staffer: -$5/approved staffer
Travel: -$10/200 miles one way (measured by Google Maps)

Minimum fee is $40/team.

Please pay in cash or check made out to the "Georgia Tech Academic Quizbowl Team". We prefer payment the day of the tournament.

Hello all,

Thank you for registering for the Ramblin' Wreck Invitational! We look forward to welcoming your teams to Georgia Tech on the 19th. This email contains important logistical information for the tournament.

LOCATION:
We will host the tournament in the Howey Physics Building, located at 837 State St NW, Atlanta, GA 30332. Directions are here: http://www.physics.gatech.edu/about/directions. REGISTRATION:
Arrive between 8:00 and 8:30 for registration. We will strive to start the opening meeting at 8:45 AM. We will host the opening meeting in Lecture Hall 3 - Georgia Tech students will direct you there.

INDIVIDUALS:
Individual stats will be kept. To expedite this, please fill out this form. Submitting the rosters ASAP is essential to making sure this tournament runs as smoothly as possible. First and last names are preferred.

LUNCH:
Lunch will be served on campus after Round 5. Please stay on campus for lunch, which will be provided. The cost is $5 for 2 slices of pizza and a drink per person.

DETAILS:
With 20 teams, there will be two ten-team preliminary divisions, which will play a nine-game round robin. The top two teams in each division will play an additional two games against the top two teams from the other division. An advantaged final will be held if necessary at the end of the playoff crossover. We anticipate prelims ending by 4 PM at the latest.

There will be powers and negs; there will be no bounce-backs. A copy of the rules is attached.

This tournament happened! Congratulations to Chattahoochee A for clearing the field to win the tournament. Dorman A ended 2-1 in the championship bracket to finish 2nd. Thanks to all the teams that came out on a rainy day to Atlanta! We hope to see you at one of our other tournaments soon.
