Quizbowlers around the country have probably encountered people who aren't very familiar with quizbowl. These people may have some interesting ideas about what quizbowl is. I'll start with two:
After a long email exchange about the merits of pyramidal questions, a very frustrated administrator told me that pyramidal questions were riddled with errors. When I asked to see said pyramidal questions, they were NAC ones. The admin thought that any questions longer than one line were "pyramidal."
A local Academic Decathlon coach, after voicing a lot of complaints about AcaDec, complained that quizbowl is "less work" than Academic Decathlon because quizbowl is only "trivia" that requires no practice.
