naqt.com wrote:NAQT is pleased to announce that its 2020 High School National Championship Tournament will be held at the Atlanta Hilton and Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotels in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 22-24, 2020. This is Memorial Day weekend. The Marriott Marquis is the same hotel that hosted the 2017, 2018, and 2019 HSNCTs.
NAQT is delighted that LetterOne is returning as the presenting sponsor of our HSNCT.
The field is limited to 320 teams. NAQT may expand the field depending on the level of interest and the availability of facilities and staff.

Was the inclusion of Monday in the dates intentional?
Just a typo; I've updated the original post.

I believe that this is the 4th year in a row that HSNCT will be held in Atlanta. I thought the plan was to rotate every 3 years between Atlanta and Chicago. Why is HSNCT 2020 being held in Atlanta?

One of the criteria that jumps out is

4 years in a row. Should we assume that HSNCT will always be held in Atlanta?
Note that while that is a selection criterion, it is one of eleven criteria listed, and indeed is somewhat in conflict with the criterion listed directly after it. It's pretty unlikely that any given site will get high marks on every single criterion, and some criteria will naturally have a higher priority than others.

biofanat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 1:11 pmAre there any tentative estimates for field size?
Not really—very few qualifying events have occurred yet (off the top of my head, I think only one). We expect to be able to accommodate similar or somewhat higher numbers of teams as in the past, but the actual final field size probably won't be known until May 2020.

We know this decision is disappointing to everyone who was looking forward to competing at the 2020 HSNCT. We hope the quiz bowl community stays safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing all of you at future NAQT events.
