I'm not even the first scorer on my team, so I'm not sure how I'm 5th.

Re: Best Individuals in Illinois
I also think I'm ranked too high, as Kevin beat me in Solo (going 7-0 in the prelims in the process) and I have never outscored Ethan at any event, so I would have to be at best 3rd. I'm also not the most competent or neg-free generalist (if that's what we're basing these rankings on). I would say that Ethan Ashbrook and Sophie Netzel are notable absences from this list, both of them being on Illinois B last year.
I also want to shill for my teammate Daniel Lee who I think has a reasonable case for being top-20 individually: he is incredibly deep on things he enjoys/has read in the areas of literature, music, philosophy, modern physics, etc.--a very eclectic knowledge base that he is expanding with some grind studying. The best example of his skill I can give you is his upset over Govind at solo this year.

Re: Best Individuals in Illinois
The lack of Ethan Ashbrook (Uni's best player) is a bit odd as is Nick Morrow over Tim Cho (no offense to NIck, but Tim scales to college pretty well while Nick seems peak at HS regs).

Re: Best Individuals in Illinois
I think I should be slightly lower on the list, although I was the top scorer on my team at a few 2017-18 season tournaments. This year, I have mostly been a fourth scorer/backup player because I don't have much of a niche on the team. Kevin, Dylan, Tim, Ethan, Olivia, Aristotle, and Govind are objectively better than me based on this year's tournament statistics. I did place fourth at Scobol Solo, but I would say I had as much as a 40-50% chance of going 4-3 and not making finals.

Could we get justifications for these rankings? I find myself disagreeing with many of these and I would like to hear your reasoning.

This ranking is based on my opinion, which is primarily based on my interpretation of Solo results. In other words, probably not the most precise way of doing this. Feel free to post your own lists.

obviously your physical location makes things difficult but how many of these players have you actually seen play

I personally don't trust the results of Solo very much. Scobol Solo has a history of not being the greatest of sets.

Re: Best Individuals in Illinois
I don't think that Solo is the best measure of a quizbowler, but question quality is not the issue here. I can't remember a year I was coaching when Solo wasn't in the top half of sets my team heard that year, and some of the years it was definitely one of the best.
