Chicago Regional
(abstain)

#2 22, A Million by Bon Iver
#6 Wildflower by The Avalanches

Oxford Regional
#1 A Moon Shaped Pool by Radiohead
#5 Puberty 2 by Mitski

#2 Teens of Denial by Car Seat Headrest -- Album of the year. A darkly comedic yet perfect compendium of inchoate adult life. This album finds a rare equilibrium between a rugged, guitar-driven classic rock and everything that reminds me that music has progressed since then.

#3 Malibu by Anderson .Paak

Los Angeles Regional

#1 Coloring Book by Chance the Rapper

#2 22, A Million by Bon Iver

#1 A Moon Shaped Pool by Radiohead - A really great album but I'm disappointed I forgot to vote to prevent Big Thief from getting shut out.

#3 Malibu by Anderson .Paak

#4 A Sailor's Guide to Earth by Sturgill Simpson

#6 Freetown Sound by Blood Orange

#1 We got it from Here... Thank You 4 Your service by A Tribe Called Quest

#3 Lemonade by Beyoncé - but wow, this album had the worst bracket - first against a disappointing album from a great band, then an album whose initial release was disappointing but was modified to be legitimately really good. Lemonade is still one of the two best albums of the year, and it looks like you fools might vote out its competitor.

Coloring Book
22, A Million

Puberty 2
Teens of Denial- the toughest choice in this round imo

Blonde
Freetown Sound

We Got It From Here... etc.
Lemonade - another tough choice- I think Lemonade is just more consistently great, while TLOP has quite a few stinkers in addition to some of Kanye's best work

#2 The Life of Pablo by Kanye West- never a true fan of the "living album" concept, I would rather see more "untitled, unmastered" like albums.

^are you kidding me with this, Lemonade is fantastic and this is not Kanye's best work (although it is good and better than everything else in the Los Angeles bracket)

So, my favorite already lost, but I'll carry on.

Chicago Regional
#1 Coloring Book by Chance the Rapper
#6 Wildflower by The Avalanches - Neither of these albums sat super well with me. Coloring Book was really bright, but I don't think it was as good as Acid Rap, and I didn't have it in my top 25. Wildflower, on the other hand, made me smile all the way through. I really liked this album, even though I actually think it suffered from the inclusion of the rapping, "Because I'm Me" and "Frankie Sinatra" being the exceptions for me. Both super happy albums, but Wildflower easily wins in my mind.

Oxford Regional
#1 A Moon Shaped Pool by Radiohead
#3 Malibu by Anderson .Paak - This is tougher than it should be. I had never heard of Anderson .Paak before this album, and I really liked it. It probably impressed me more than A Moon Shaped Pool did at first. But, over time, A Moon Shaped Pool grew on me like crazy, and it's moved up a lot in my mind as far as best records of the year go. It's so quiet, but boy is it powerful.

Los Angeles Regional
#1 Blonde by Frank Ocean
#2 Blackstar by David Bowie - I think this is the closest matchup of the round, for me at least. Both of these are very personal albums, and are pretty sad in a lot of ways. The real reason I'm picking Blackstar over Blonde is because I think Blackstar is more complete and consistent. Blonde opens and closes in a pretty lackluster way, whereas Blackstar, I think, does the opposite. Both really good records, in my opinion, both in my top 5 of the year, but Blackstar wins this round.

Queens Regional
#1 We got it from Here... Thank You 4 Your service by A Tribe Called Quest
#3 Lemonade by Beyoncé - As much as I love Beyonce, I actually didn't like this album as much as her self-titled album from a few years ago. A Tribe Called Quest absolutely knocked it out of the park on this one. We Got it from Here is in the mix for rap album of the year for me, with RTJ 3 and Danny Brown in their as well.

P.S. If anyone is interested Metacritic just put out the best albums list for both critics by critics and by fans. I found it interesting to compare the differences between these lists and how the bracket turned out.

A great final four. My thoughts below:
Anderson Paak was a revelation this year and he made some really great catchy, mood-lightening music. Malibu was probably the most underrated album of the year in my opinion and Heart Don't Stand a Chance was one of my favorite songs of the year. But in this matchup of exuberant, joyful performers Chance the Rapper takes the cake. In my mind, no one today is making more relevant, exciting, optimistic and hopeful music than Chance.

Blonde beats out ATCQ, simply because I spent more of the past year listening to Endless, relistening to endless (making sure to skip over the travesty that is Higgs) and then obsessing over almost every song on Blonde after it came out. It's a wonderful album that I will probably continually listen to for a few years just like I did with Channel Orange.

In two (surprising) blowouts, Anderson .Paak and A Tribe Called Quest advance to the final, 7-3 and 8-2 respectively. Voting will close at 11:59 PM EST Friday.
