I'm incredibly excited to announce an official mirror of ACRONYM IX, to be held as a part of the 2016 HSNCT weekend. The tournament will take place on Sunday, May 29th, starting approximately two hours after the end of the HSNCT finals. This will be the evening before Memorial Day, so if you're looking for a reason to spend an extra night in Dallas (or just to play some extra quiz bowl), this tournament is for you! Details of the question set is available in the global announcement thread. Details on this tournament are below:
REGISTRATION AND FEES
Registration for this tournament is now open here. You can view the current field here. Registration requires some sort of team and affiliation on the NAQT website, but you can create an ad-hoc school/association for this purpose. Made-up names are also fine, but keep them reasonably appropriate.
The field will have a cap of

I am not certain exactly how this tournament will be run - depending on size, it may end up using either a card system or typical prelim/playoff seeding. Though I'm not sure of a specific format, I'm comfortable guaranteeing at LEAST six games for all teams, and will be shooting for more than that.
I believe this has the potential to be the largest trash tournament in quiz bowl history. If that ends up being the case, we'll need a whole bunch of moderators and other staffers. If you're planning on being in Dallas and would like to help out, let me know! If you'd like to play instead, that's cool too. If you'd like to organize/play in a local mirror and then staff it at HSNCT, that works as well - it's like doing it once, but double! Each non-team moderator will receive $15 and my eternal gratitude.
More details, including a more precise schedule and other stuff I forgot to mention in this thread, are coming soon.
I look forward to seeing a whole bunch of you in Dallas!
