Marist MSFIT (Atlanta, GA) / LIMIT Mirror (Nov 14)

Post by dhswise »

This year Marist School (Atlanta, Georgia) will host the second annual Marist School Fall Invitational Tournament (MSFIT) on Saturday, November 14th. The tournament will mirror the Lexington LIMIT. The tournament format will feature five preliminary matches followed by a re-bracketed playoff. Teams will be guaranteed 10 rounds. Bouncebacks will not be used. Teams will be limited to four members.

Teams from around the Southeast are welcomed and encouraged to attend. We hope to attract some of the best teams from around the region.

The cost of the tournament will be a flat fee of $90, which will include lunches for four players and one coach. Additional lunches may be purchased separately in advance. If you can bring an experienced reader, there is a -$10 discount and working buzzer systems are -$5 discounts (limited to the first 12 schools to claim the discount; not to exceed one per school). If you travel more than 100 miles (according to Google maps), you will receive an additional -$10 discount.

The initial field will be limited to 18 teams until additional readers can be secured. Until the field expands, each school may only register two teams. Additional teams from the same school will be placed on a wait list.

You may post here to register or email me ([email protected]).

This tournament is a PACE NSC qualifier, now gold-certified. 20% of the field will qualify for PACE NSC.

11/3 Field adjustment: Chamblee is in, Kennesaw Mt. is out.

If you haven't filled out the Google form (Hooch, Calhoun, Milton, Pinecrest, Jackson County), please do so ASAP. http://goo.gl/forms/7mI5kIaT3x

Many thanks to everyone who helped out today, especially our friends from UGA, Georgia Tech, Chamblee, and Milton who read today. Readers are the backbone of a tournament, and we were very fortunate to have such a group of great readers. The highlights of my day were the moments I could sneak into a room and enjoy some of the games.

Top four finishers:
Alpharetta 10-0 (5-0 in championship bracket)
Hooch A 9-1 (4-1 in championship bracket)
Eastside 7-3 (3-2 in championship bracket)
Marist 6-4 (2-3 in championship bracket)

In the B group, Chamblee went undefeated, and in the C group, Calhoun A and Milton each went 4-1, with Calhoun edging Milton on ppg by 1 point!

Congrats to Matthew Briscoe of Eastside on the most impressive individual stats on the day, and also on having the stamina to soldier through 10 rounds as a one-man team! Other standout individuals in order of ppg were Andrew Liang (Johns Creek), Shubhom Bhattacharya (Alpharetta), Chenthuran Abeyakar (Chamblee), Nick Isaf (Marist), Aditi Choudhury (Hooch), Sam Warren (Calhoun), Ben Wise (Marist), Elijah Odunade (Norcross), and Aditya D. (Hooch).

Full stats probably tomorrow.

Hey everyone! Thanks to Marist for hosting and to teams for playing the set.
Jarret and I would love to hear any feedback anyone has about the set, by email or in the private LIMIT discussion forum. You can access that by going to the "User Control Panel", going to the "Usergroups" tab, and selecting "LIMIT discussion" to join.
