BASK at Cornell (10/10/2015)

Post by samus149 »

The Cornell University quizbowl team is pleased to announce our mirror of BASK, which will take place on October 10, 2015.

The tournament will take place in Rockefeller Hall (231 East Ave, Ithaca NY). Further information about starting time, etc. will be posted closer to the tournament. We have a field cap of 24 teams, though this may be subject to change depending on room availability and the number of outside staffers. Provided we meet our quota, there will be four prelim brackets of six teams, followed by three playoff brackets of eight teams and six playoff games (no team will play the same team twice). There will be an ACF-style final (a team must have cleared the playoff bracket by two or more games to win outright).

Registration:

You can register for this tournament by emailing [email protected] with the number of teams that will be attending, number of working buzzer systems and staffers, and a phone number for us to contact on the day of the tournament.

Question Set:

We will be mirroring BASK, the spiritual successor to the well received Ladue Invitational Spring Tournaments of recent years, written by a team of collaborators from Columbia University, University of Chicago, Cornell University, and University of Virginia.

The distribution is as follows:
4/4 History
4/4 Literature
4/4 Science
1/1 Mathematics (Non-computational)
2/2 Religion and Mythology
1/1 Philosophy and Social Science
2/2 Fine Arts
0.5/0.5 Geography
0.5/0.5 Current Events
1/1 Trash
1/1 Extra

More information on this set can be found here.

Fee Structure:

$65 for the first team, $60 for each additional team
-$5 for each working buzzer system, no limit
-$10 for each moderator, no limit

If you have any questions about this tournament, please contact [email protected] or post below.

We look forward to seeing you all in October!

Is this tournament actually happening? If so, is there a field update?

Ithaca A won, clearing the field 10-0 with Bishop Guertin coming in second.

Is there going to be a forum to discuss questions? There were a number of fixable problems with this set that I took notes on.

This set was admittedly used before playtesting and final editing took place; I'll request a forum later, but for now, let me know via email or PM.
