We've got 9 teams for Div I.
Maryland A
Maryland B (UG)
North Carolina A (UG)
Reynolds CC
South Carolina (UG)
VCU
Virginia A
Virginia B (UG)
William & Mary

We've got 14 for Div II.
Davidson A
Davidson B
Georgetown University
High Point
Liberty A
Liberty B

Barring any surprises, that is the final field. If we end up with enough staff, we may field a house team.

Hey, Mike, does "per team" in your fee structure mean "per school" or "per registered team"? If the former, I'll be un-registering one of our buzzers. Sorry for the delay in asking; I didn't think to check because I hadn't realized hosts were allowed to change that.

Per team, not school.

Okie doke. Note then for planning purposes that we do have a total of 2 of each and the listing with the second team isn't just a duplicate.

For those who don't like checking your email:

We'll be hosting this tournament in McBryde Hall. This building is located on the north side of campus. We'll be doing registration in McBryde 100 which is a large auditorium on the south side of the building. Registration will begin at 8 AM and play will begin promptly at 9 AM.

A map of campus can be found at: http://www.maps.vt.edu/PDF/campus-map-highres.pdf
McBryde Hall is building 151.

We recommend parking along the Drillfield, at the Surge Building, or on the east side of the parking garage. Any Commuter, Resident, or Faculty/Staff lots are good to park in (except those marked "24 hours").

EDIT: "Along" the Drillfield not "on" it, please!

Now that the field is set, has there been any determination on what format it will be (round robin, round robin plus bracketed playoffs, etc.)?

Round-robin plus bracketed playoffs in Division I, round-robin in Division II. Finals if needed.

Yup. That's what Harry and I worked out at practice tonight. If staffing permits, we'll likely add a house team to Div 2 so that we don't have a bye.

So for D1, a round robin and then a split into five teams in the upper bracket and four teams in the lower?

Four in the upper and five in the lower, actually. We'd like to have packets available for tiebreakers and emergencies.

We received a new registration this afternoon: Georgetown will be fielding a Division II team. Virginia Tech may still field a team, depending on staffing concerns. The final schedule will be announced at the opening meeting.

It appears that weather will not be an issue for Blacksburg. If you have weather related issues, contact me by the phone number in the earlier email.

So are there 9 teams in Division I right now? Why wouldn't Virginia Tech instead use the house team in that division, to avoid byes? This year byes seem particularly problematic, since so few teams will qualify for at-large bids and minimizing variability across sites is paramount. Not to mention byes at Sectionals just suck generally.

Because 13 teams in DII isn't any good either?

Nevermind, thought VT was already in the field.

First, I'd like to thank Bob Powers, Tamara Carson, Chuck Pearson, Andrew Feist, Nola Savage, Evan Magner, Luke Williams, Chris Poole, and Courtney Fowler for taking time out of their Saturday to help make this tournament run smoothly. We couldn't have done so without their help.

I'd also like to thank all the team provided staffers, as they contributed much to the quality of the tournament.

Finally, I'd like to congratulate Virginia A (DI), Maryland B (UG), and UNC B (DII) on their championships. Good luck at ICT!
