New England NAQT Regional Championship at Harvard (04/06/13)
Hey everyone,
I'm pleased to announce that Harvard will be hosting the first NAQT Regional Championship for New England on April 6, 2013. We will be using IS-126, with 20/20 untimed rounds. Unlike other state championships, this tournament can be viewed as a "combined state championship" in the sense that qualification procedures for HSNCT will proceed as if we were running a separate tournament for Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut at the same time. So the top 15% of the field will qualify, but the top teams from each state who have not already qualified will also qualify. Other than that, you can expect a normal tournament where preliminary bracket seeding will not be affected at all by what state your team is from, and naturally, the rest of the tournament will also not be influenced by the name of your home state.
The fee structure for this tournament will be as follows:
First team: +$80
Each additional team: +$70
Buzzer discount: -$5
Experienced staffer discount: -$10
Staffers should be familiar with NAQT rules and should be able to read quickly and clearly.
To register, you can email Graham at gmoyer01 at college dot harvard dot edu. Please indicate how many buzzers and staffers you can bring. The field is capped at 30.
Field (12):
Abby Kelly Foster Charter (MA) - 1
AMSA (MA) - 1
Belmont (MA) - 2
Brookline (MA) - 2
Lexington (MA) - 2
Sharon (MA) - 2
E. O. Smith (CT) - 2
Buzzers (6):

AMSA (MA) - 1
Belmont (MA) - 1
Brookiline (MA) - 2
E. O. Smith (CT) - 2
Moderators (2):

AMSA will come with one team and one buzzer.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who competes with other activities among my students but this year has been awful. Lots of my students also participate in Speech and Debate and nearly every tournament this year seems to bump up against a major speech competition. April 6th is their state championships. Anyone else having this problem? So frustrating! I'd like to bring two teams, but I can't see it happening right now.

Sharon is interested in sending at least 2 teams. However, our advisor will not be able to meet us in time for registration due to her other commitments at the time. Thus, would it be possible for us students to check in alone?

Yeah, that's fine. As long as the team shows up ready to play we're okay with anything, really.

Sounds good. And what time will it start, and are there any updates on where we should meet initially? Also, it would be helpful if I could know roughly what time it will be over. *Just to plan logistics.

I'll update the field when I hear back from Graham and/or when I get internet access to my computer (I'm on my phone right now). We're on spring break until Monday so communication's been slow.

Brookline High school (MA) would also like to register at least 2 teams. BHS will be able to bring two buzzer sets.

Hi! Could you tell me what time the tournament will start on Saturday, as in what time check-in is? And also, will our school be able to qualify for PACE from this tournament?

We'll try to start the tournament at 9:15, so teams should be at Sever Hall shortly before 9.

Lexington A cleared the field, making them Regional and Massachusetts state champions. Sharon A and E. O. Smith tied for second. Stats are here: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournament ... all_games/
Thanks to everyone for coming out to play.

Hello! I was wondering who to get in contact with if my school needed a receipt for the tournament? I have tried emailing a few people who were in charge but have received no response.

Could you try sending the email again? It might have been sorted into spam or I might have accidentally deleted it, so I'll keep an eye out for it this time. All I really need is the email address to send the invoice to, though.

I was promised a receipt for the tournament on April 6th for which I paid cash for two teams from Sharon High School. I have requested the receipt four times via email. I still have not received a receipt. This is ridiculous!!!!! I cannot be reimbursed by my school without a receipt. Please send me a receipt!!!!!! [email protected]
