2013 NAQT Illinois State Championship (2/23/13)

Post by dtaylor4 »

The 2013 NAQT State Championship will be at Bloomington High School on February 23, 2013.

An article in the most recent Scholastic Visions outlines most of the basic details about the tournament announcement, and David Reinstein copied the content to the "Illinois '12-13" thread.

In this thread, I will post and update a list of the current field, and answer questions posted here or emailed to me at [email protected]. Teams can register at this link

The field has grown to 8 teams, but we still have ample space.

EDIT: I jumped the gun.

As it stands, I'm going to put in a soft cap of 24 teams. If enough staffers and rooms can be secured, I can see this rising.

Speaking of which, if you are comfortable reading on the clock, then breakfast, lunch, and a stipend will be provided if you want to come.

The deadline to submit a wildcard bid is this Saturday. Wildcard applications will be evaluated by a committee, and a decision will be made by February 9. Teams applying for a wildcard should have significant number of wins. Please send application to Sharon Lorinskas (sharon.lorinskas at-symbol cchs165.com).

Has it been decided whether the rounds are going to be timed or untimed?

Also, the field is now full. Any new teams that register will be added to a waitlist.

The field cap will stay at 24 unless more readers are obtained.

I'm willing to read for this, but I'd need a ride from Chicago. Any takers?

I'm working on nailing down more readers. If I can nail down their commitments, I can likely expand the field to 28.

Later this evening, I will be sending an email to coaches concerning the likely 28-team schedule.

If any team wishes to register, or a team already registered wishes to add a B (or C) team, then Bloomington's coach is willing to drop his B team from the field. First come, first serve.

Congratulations to IMSA A for winning the 2013 Illinois NAQT State Championship over Rockford Auburn A. In the third-place game, Belvidere North A defeated Metea Valley A.

In Class A, Peoria Christian ran away with the Class A title, and was a tiebreaker game away from being in the top 8. Southwestern finished 2nd in Class A based on their playoff record.

I would like to thank Tim Coughlan and his crew of scorers, runners, and parents for helping with set-up Friday and much of the dirty work Saturday. I would also like to send a very big thank-you to my crew of moderators: Michael Angelo Sorice, Jonah Greenthal, Colby Burnett, Kristin Anne Strey, Mark Taylor, Sharon Robinson Lorinskas, Jay Winter, Robert Jeffrey Geringer, Greg Dzuricsko, Brad Fischer, Joe Promisco, Mike Laudermith, and Dave Adkins.

Jonah has all the stat files, he will likely post a link here once they are uploaded.

If anyone found any question errors, please email the details to errata at naqt.com. If people had issues with anything else from the tournament, email me.
