865 TJ B d. State College B (R3)
I dunno if you knew this or not, but that score is from 2004. I remember because that was the record for something like two rounds.

No, Sollosi...that one was ours. Your game was a combined 860.

So as mentioned before, it's not just TJ A's dominance in offense, but also the record-setting performances of all the other teams that resulted in practically all of the records being broken. I have yet to complete the stretch-round points scored, though I know they were broken in prelim rounds handily (180 with 7 powers I think is the TJ record, but I have to be sure).

In addition to the obvious strength of the teams at this year's NSC, there's clearly another reason why all of these records were broken: the questions. While I am in no way trying to take away from the tremendous accomplishments of the TJ A team and the other teams at PACE (kudos, all of you), I'd definitely have to say that the difference in difficulty between 2004 and 2005 was astonishing.

Let's take the science, for example. I can say honestly that, even having almost completed a science-intensive major (electrical engineering) and being at least a decent science player at the collegiate level, I still hadn't *heard* of several of the science answers in the 2004 PACE set...in my opinion, that's too hard.

The 2005 set, on the other hand, was a completely different story. I had heard of and had at least strong associative knowledge of every science answer in the set. Of course, that *might* have been because I wrote a larger chunk of the science questions for this year's set than for last year's, but hey, whatever

Having recently read through the majority of the 2005 set, I thought that the questions used this year were very well-written and edited, and much more appropriate for a high school tournament, especially relative to last year's version. Props go out to the editors.

Thanks. And of course, we're always in need of good writers and editors to make things easier for us to create a fair set of questions. hint hint hint... :)

I am still trying to do analysis on the data from the tournament, and I am pretty sure that during games we had probably average points of 350+ per team per match. I have to check the median scores since TJ's performances do skew the averages up a lot, but we had been observing a very high efficiency in tossup and bonus conversion compared to past years.

Not that everything is completely up, but I wanted to let you all know that I have updated HTML files of the stats online at the PACE website: http://www.pace-nsc.org/ including steal points. I have to add opportunities for steals if you wanted a metric for points per steal, but I don't think that is really as important for the moment as opposed to steal points possible. But I digress, as it is a limitation of SQBS 4 for now.
