Bumping because as near as this is, it probably deserves to be on the front page.

Sorry for the delayed update, but Detroit Country Day A won the tournament yesterday with a 10-0 record. Harry S. Truman took second and Hillsdale Academy finished third, each with an 8-2 record overall.

Full stats for yesterday's tournament are now up on our website at https://www.msu.edu/~cbowl/results.html.

Thanks a lot to Michigan State for hosting this tournament; I had a lot of fun, and I thought it went pretty well. It's not often that we get a chance to play something non-NAQT, which made this even more enjoyable. Thanks as well to everyone who worked on this set. The set did have some typos and missing punctuation, but was still really fun to play.

Also, for anyone who cares about stats, in our first game against Huron B, apparently we were read a finals packet by mistake, which might in part account for the lower bonus conversion that game.

Looking at the stats, I feel there is a real need for expansion of quizbowl in Michigan. When DCD or DCC just comes and dominates every tournament it's not really good for anyone.

I definitely agree, but I won't go on that rant here. Though I was especially pleased to see my dad's homeland of Mason County represented at an MSU event for the first time ever (not counting the Honors College state tournament, of course).

I don't have contact information for the qualified teams from this tournament, so in case MSU hasn't yet received and forwarded my notification, the top 6 teams from this tournament (DCD A, Truman, Hillsdale Academy, Brighton A, Huron A, and DCD B) have qualified for the 2012 PACE NSC from a platinum-certified tournament and are welcome to register beginning December 1 if they wish to attend. Links to our registration form and the list of registered teams can be found in this post.
