ANNOUNCEMENT: Guerrilla RPG Event @ Minn O 11/21

Post by Sima Guang Hater »

A few people are throwing together some packets for a video game side event at MO. Currently, we're planning on having the following packets [if I've forgotten you please post in the thread]

Metal Gear Series (Half theme, half subject) - Eric Mukherjee
SNES Final Fantasy - Rob Carson
Tales of Symphonia - Matt Bollinger
Golden Sun - Auroni Gupta
Nintendo RPGs - Mike Bentley
Towns/Cities - Matt Lafer
Text Adventures - Dwight Wynne
BioWare RPGs - Steve B?

I personally would be willing to send my packets to any other site that wants them, and I'm sure the others on the list would do the same.

I might be convinced to write a packet for this on Nintendo-published RPGs.

I don't know if nobody likes it but me, but I could write on SNES Earthbound.

I should have a packet for this. The theme will either be "Towns/Cities" or "Stuff that I feel like writing on".

I could probably chip in a couple questions on this/Mother 3, if it helps. (If not, I so look forward to playing this at some point after MO.)

Well, there goes the only category I was capable of doing, ignoring "Insipid Things in Final Fantasy X2".

Edit: and possibly "Fred interprets PS2 & SNES classics, some of which are not RPGs."

Hey, since this will most likely be run shootout-style, and as much as we all love bonus parts on "The Brave Do Not Fear The Grave", you are fully encouraged to write all-tossup packets. The more tossups, the better; don't be afraid to ask about a few wacky things too--you easily could make someone's whole weekend.

EDIT: if you've already written bonuses, of course, we'd be happy to hear them.

Depending on the time I can scrounge up, I may or may not follow Rob's suit and cook up some PS-era Final Fantasy questions. Focusing on VII-X(2) and probably a hint of Tactics.

Oh, my infrequent wanderings into the Trash forum have caused me not to notice this thread.

I've already started a packet with about 10/10 completed. It's intended to be half Final Fantasy (of all eras) and half other RPGs that I like (read: mostly classic JRPGs).

I didnt see the bit about all-tossups until now, so I guess I'll complete the bonus parts, as they're pretty easy to write.

Assuming I have the time, I think I'll write some packet for this which may actually feature some RPG clues or something. Rob gave me the go-ahead to do whatever I want.

I can read for this at the Maryland mirror if there are other people reading the other sides to make them happen. (I may also need a ride back to hyattsville, or the number of a good cab company.)

We need some volunteers (preferably, people who aren't playing) that can receive the packets from other sites via e-mail and bring them to the tournament(s).

Also, my packet no longer has a theme. I'm shooting for about 40-50 tossups, half of which are regular length and half of which are speedcheck-type questions with pretty hard answer lines.

People can send them to me (cheyne AT wmis DOT net). I can read the packets written by people not in attendance at the tournament.

Edit: I have received a packet by Dwight Wynne on "indie RPGs, graphic adventures, and text adventures." This is probably one of the few submissions I would actually enjoy playing, so I hope someone else can read this particular one. I am okay reading the other packets.
