Thus far, I've heard only from RPI. Northeast teams (Harvard, Brown, Brandeis, MIT, Dartmouth, Columbia, etc.): are any of you planning on coming to this? Please let me know (even if only tentatively) sometime in the next couple of days, if you could, because I'll probably need to adjust room reservations accordingly sometime this week.

The field update is accurate. Harvard and RPI are the only teams that have said signed up so far. Dartmouth has told me that they can't come. I've not heard back from Brown yet (though I've heard rumors that they're planning on coming...). I'll ask Columbia when I see them this weekend at MO Maryland (or if they want to contact me before then to let me know, that would be great).

Could Harvard and Columbia please get back to me on how many teams they're planning on bringing? Also, are any teams bringing buzzers?

As of yesterday, Columbia is signed up for our mirror unless they're splitting up or something.

Brown is down to one team; our buzzers are currently at Brandeis, so it looks like they won't be there.

It looks like Harvard is bringing a team (Ted, Dallas, Stephen Liu). I don't foresee us bringing buzzers unless Dennis ordered the power cord long ago.

Is there any chance Mike Bentley's visual arts thing could be run at this tournament? I've been wanting to play it but I feel like this might be the last opportunity to do so, as it's been played/will be played this weekend in most other regions.

What is presumably the final field update is given above. NYU has joined us.

You may notice, however, that RPI is the only team bringing a buzzer. Yale only owns one buzzer. This means we're running a tournament on two buzzers, and would mean cutting the house teams, unless all of the teams attending are okay with running one room as slap-bowl. Is there any way another buzzer could make its way to our site? Does either Brown or RPI own a second buzzer system? Or do one of the NYC or Boston teams have a spare buzzer they can lend to NYU or Harvard that they can bring?

Could Harvard stop by Brandeis on the way to Yale and pick up the Brown team's buzzers (assuming they're coming by car)?

Or alternatively, as John suggested, could Harvard borrow a buzzer from MIT (the closest school to you guys that has an active quizbowl program) for the weekend?

I'll try to contact NYU and Columbia, to see if Columbia can give NYU one of their buzzers, since the Penn site already has a surplus of buzzers.

Logistical details for the tournament: registration will begin 8:15. The tournament begins at 9:00. The entire tournament is going to be held in the basement of WLH (William L. Harkness Hall). I'll reiterate this information in an e-mail that will also have my cell number and a map for parking.

This tournament happened, with one team each from NYU, Harvard, Brown, and RPI, in addition to two house teams. The failure of any extra buzzer systems to come into being necessitated that one room be run using Slap Bowl™ protocols. Stats will probably appear in the next day or two; Brown beat Harvard in a one-game final.

Eyes That Do Not See II was also run here as a shootout; the stats are thus:
Ted Gioia: 6/14/14 -> 160 pts
John Lawrence: 2/11/1 -> 135 pts
Guy Tabachnick: 4/10/11 -> 105 pts
Aaron Rosenberg: 1/12/6 -> 105 pts
Matt Jackson: 4/6/5 -> 95 pts (off of 50 tossups)
Stephen Liu: 2/8/7 -> 75 pts
Dallas Simons: 2/3/3 -> 45 pts (off of 50 tossups)
Aaron Cohen: 1/2/4 -> 15 pts (off of 50 tossups)
Sam Spaulding: 0/1/1 -> 5 pts (off of 50 tossups)

Results:

After a double round robin, Brown and Harvard were tied for the lead with two losses each. They played a final, which Brown won on the last two tossups.

Stats (except for the final) have been inputted into SQBS. They should be uploaded soon.

We also ran Mike Bentley's Eyes that Do Not See II. Ted got first place, I got second place, and I believe Guy and Aaron R. tied for third. We'll have exacts scores from that posted sometime soon as well.

Thanks to all the teams that came out for this.
