TERP Mirror at IMSA, 10/30/10

Post by Irreligion in Bangladesh »

This is the announcement for a mirror of the TERP Trash Tournament, written by University of Maryland and announced here. This tournament will take place following the gameplay at the SCOP Novice tournaments at Lisle Senior HS and Northern Illinois University on Saturday, October 30th, 2010, and is an open tournament.

Full considerations for entry fees and schedule will be posted very shortly; in the meantime, please post in this thread to indicate your interest in playing or staffing this event. To expedite the process of starting the tournament, we will almost certainly be ordering pizza for consumption during play; this cost will be built into the entry fee for players, while staffers eat for free.

Field:
IMSA (Noah/Mike/?/?)
North(west)ern Illinois University (Kristin/Brad/Laura/Dan-Don)
College of DuPage (Mike/Sam/Charles/Jon?)
Lisle?
OPRF?

Free Agents:
Zahed?
Colby Burnett

Staffers:
Jonah

The IMSA team might add one more player (still awaiting confirmation from his mommy), but will probably not find another. So, any lone soldiers should feel free to join our squad.

One more VERY IMPORTANT THING: everyone who comes needs some sort of ID to get in the building. A driver's license works great. If you don't have a driver's license or other State ID, contact me.

Due to some wrangling from Jonah and Greg, I'm moderating at Lisle and playing at the TERP mirror as a free agent. If anyone's in for a ringer, contact me.

So has the cost per team and/or person been decided yet?

Brad is handling the mirror fees (I think), but when he and I last spoke we thought we could cover food and mirror fees for $15/person. That number might change a little depending on details to be finalized.

All right, so full details.

Field:
IMSA (Noah/Mike/?/?)
Kristin/Brad/Laura/Dan-Don
Mike/Sam/Charles/Jon?
Fenton
Colby Burnett
Zahed?

Staffers:
Jonah
Greg D.

While we're still open to have more people sign up, it's likely this will be the field. Fenton doesn't have a confirmed number of players yet, but my guess is we'll condense the field into four teams. Jonah can do stats while he reads :)

The entry fee will be $15/person; this will cover both the tournament and a dinner cost - we're going to get pizza so we don't have to delay the tourney for dinner. The leading candidate at the moment is Jonah picking up Lou Malnati's on his drive from Lisle SCOP. What kinds of pizza should he get?

I have to do stats, read, and pick up pizza, all for a trash tournament? You suck, Brad Fischer.

Here's the map to get from Lisle to IMSA; if you aren't coming from Lisle (and you're not in my car coming from NIU), IMSA's address is in that link, go click and find your own directions.
Lisle-to-IMSA

That drive is 30 minutes; so is the NIU-to-IMSA drive, so this tournament will begin roughly 35 minutes after the end of the later tournament of NIU SCOP and Lisle SCOP. My guess, then, is about 5.

Who is playing TERP but not going to be at Lisle or NIU beforehand?

EDIT: Also, can we use IMSA's buzzer for this? NIU will have ours with us, so that's the two we need right there.

IMSA has two buzzer systems we can use.

As far as timing goes, perhaps people should email/PM me to get my phone number. We'll just have to stay in touch about when the SCOPs end to know when to start.

That's rather unfortunate.

I know I will not be at either site beforehand. It will take me about an hour and a half to get to IMSA from my house, so any advance notice to arrive earlier would be much appreciated.

Send me your phone number and I can call you when GHOST is on lunch, or when finals start, or something like that, to try to give you the best idea of when it will end.

Congrats to IMSA & Colby for winning this mirror. The 3 rounds that I played were pretty fun. I look forward to reading the rest of this set.

Fixed.

I had a great time playing. Sorry you only got three rounds in. I'd love to do another mini-mirror sometime if there is interest.

I echo this. A fun set to play and i'd be interested in doing another mini-mirror also.

There is now a private forum set up for TERP discussion. Please post here after you apply to join if you haven't already made it evident in this thread that you've played/heard the set. Thanks!
