Eyes That Do Not See II

Post by Mike Bentley »

This is an announcement for Eyes That Do Not See II. Like the original, this will be an all visual tournament covering the visual arts (painting, sculpture, architecture, film, photography, etc.). The length will be similar to that of the original Eyes That Do Not See (around 100 tossups).

I'd like to have the set ready for Minnesota Open (assuming there is actually time to run it then), but I'd be open for having it mirrored at other tournaments.

The tournament will probably be a bit more difficult than the first version, although there still will be plenty of accessible answers.

This could get run at MO, although:

1. I think it might lend itself better to tournaments with smaller fields as shootouts. We played it after T-Party and that was about the maximum amount of people that I would be comfortable playing with.

2. I'm not 100% sure if the rooms we would have access to on Sunday would have the technology to run this.

I have about 80 tossups created for this tournament so far, but I've recently lost my access to my chief image gathering resource, ArtStor. If anyone is able to give me access to that, it would be most appreciated. Shoot me an e-mail at [email protected].

Looking at their web site, it looks like you might be able to access it as a guest at a local school that licenses its use.

Someone was kind enough to give me access, thanks.

This tournament is now more or less finished (I just need to finish adding powers). It's ready to be played at Minnesota Open if there's equipment and time to play it, and it's otherwise open to people doing mirrors throughout January.

Can you run it when you come down to the UCSD THUNDER II mirror site? I can definitely provide a room with a projector for it.

We'd certainly have TIME to run it on Sunday, not sure about either facilities or field.

By the way, it will be $5 per person to play in a mirror of this tournament (well, I suppose hosts could charge more, but that's how much you'll owe me).

FYI we ran this for a few people at Minnesota Open on Sunday. Ike Jose won. I think Donald has the stats somewhere.

The set was a little less polished than I would have liked (and included a notable error). I'm working on fixing it up a bit before some of the other mirrors.

Was anyone else planning on mirroring this? If not, I'll post the set soon.

I thought Huskie Bowl in Illinois on 1/29 was having it as a side event?

If this is still the case, can the people running this tournament e-mail me?

Since all of the mirrors are done, can you post it?
