Not sure if this is the right thread but I'll need to hitch a ride both days. Lemme know if you're willing to offer one.

Your team right now is you, Ted Gioia, and Bruce Arthur. We are still looking for a 4th.

Also I need to get to VCU from DC on both days. I have no idea how to do this and won't have a car, so maybe somebody will have mercy and drive me?

I'll be playing Saturday's tournament with Ian Eppler, Olivia Murton, and Siddharth Hariharan; Isaac is accurate about my team on Sunday.

It'd be nice to see more teams come to this from further around; North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and the NJ/NY area aren't too far away, and I heard a CRAZY RUMOR that Ahmad Ragab will be in Virginia on the tournament weekend...

The team of myself, Will Butler, and Doug Graebner is looking for a fourth for Saturday; someone who knows European and World history would be nice.

Also, I suppose I'm a free agent for the Sunday tournament, although I don't want to join a really good team.

I am setting up my travel plans at the moment and it's looking like I'm going to be getting a hotel in Richmond for Friday and Saturday. Would anybody like to go in with my team on an incredibly spacious room at the Hyatt Place near the airport? For those of you who haven't yet experienced the wonder that is a Hyatt Place, they have hotel rooms going for less than $100 a night that can literally fit like 9 people comfortably in them, they're so spacious. Also there is continental breakfast in my experience. If you are traveling to RIchmond on both Friday and Saturday and would like to get in on this, please email me ASAP and if I can find at least 3 people besides my team to get in on this, then I'll go ahead and buy it.

Entry fees for all three sites will be as follows (per tournament):
Base fee: $100/team. Shorthanded teams (1 or 2 players) may play for $25/person.
Buzzer discount: $5/set
Staffing discount: $10/staffer. You may receive a discount on Saturday for staffing on Sunday, and vice versa.
Distance discount: $10 for traveling more than 200 miles.

Hey, I'll throw my hat in the ring for free agency Saturday. I was really hoping for a UMD team to form, but that looks unlikely now, so I'm willing to get picked up by, uh, whoever. I hope whoever picks me up doesn't think, "Alright, we have Isaac Hirsch, we're going to win now," because they will be sorely disappointed.

Hey, some info:

Both days of the tournament will be held in Hibbs; directions are at http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... 46#p185146 and the meeting rooms will be posted on the doors.

Saturday we will convene sharply at 11:45 AM at the entrance to Hibbs so that we may collect registration info/money and begin play the moment the doors are opened. Be prepared to play without interruption until the mid-evening, when there will be a dinner break if needed (which we expect to be the case).

Sunday you should show up no later than 8:30.

Registration/drops should still go to my e-mail address. Do not just add yourself to the Google Doc and expect me to notice.

We will be running both Mike Cheyne and David Seal's US political history packets as an informal outdoor event prior to VCU Open. To play these questions, please show up at the designated entrance to Hibbs by 10:50 AM for further instruction on Saturday.

Hey guys,
So some of the hotel plans I had that I thought were fully set up weren't, so we could still use people to stay with us on Friday and Saturday. If you would like a cheap, spacious room on Friday or Saturday night, let me know. You can email me at [email protected] or call/text me at 239-989-5527. I'll be driving all day tomorrow, so phone is the best way.

Yeah, but since there are already 10 teams registered and some open spots, I'm pretty sure people are just going to be filling in on the existing teams, as you've done with the Bruce team.

EDIT:

On that note: Hey AJ and Randall - I'm not sure if you're still looking for people, but I think there are two Maryland folks who would like to join up with you.

I'm going to keep the field at 10 teams since I pretty clearly said to e-mail me if you want to register and no one from this alleged team did, which I take to mean that they would rather try to join other teams.

An e-mail or e-mail-like substance has been received, so the Maryland team is now registered.

An e-mail or e-mail-like substance has been received, so the Maryland team is now registered.
Despite this, I'm pretty sure that the "maryland team" (ie 3 people plus Isaac) is looking to fill out other teams, which is presumably preferable for the field anyway.

Really? The guy I talked to [Paul] said we were playing as a team, and I have no objection to that.

EDIT: Okay more talking with Paul has informed me that... yes? We are? Maybe?
