09-10 Post Nationals Poll

Post by AKKOLADE »

Give me your top 25 in order, 1 to 25. Teams will get 25 points for a 1st place vote, 24 for 2nd, and so on. Please indicate the state of the school when including them.

Email them to me at [email protected]. Please include hsquizbowl Top 25 in the subject of your email.

Your ballots will be posted alongside your actual name. Ballots that are bad will be rejected; if I have enough time, I'll prompt you for reasoning and what not.

Remember that the poll is intended for a general ranking of how good teams are. You should consider the team's best possible performance, as if all players were available for play. B teams are eligible to be ranked.
I'm not going to say how you should balance weighting performance at the nationals.

Ballots will stop being collected at the end of June 30.

There you go.

Should one assume an Amit-less Southside?

I'll allow voters to make their own decision as to what to do with Southside.

For those who don't really know much about our line-up: Southside A was "Amit-less" until NSC. Our rankings in the pre-season, mid-season, and pre-nationals polls were all based on the performance of the team consisting of Neil, Ming, Max and me.

Vote people! Finally remembered to send in my ballot just now. I had a really hard time with this one.

Oh, yeah, don't vote for CR this time. Put LASA B on there instead, the only B team that should be getting votes in this thing. Or, sure, throw your vote away!

I wouldn't hesitate in giving Dorman B a vote.

Me neither. I think they get overlooked because they're a B team, but they're solid. They've beaten us when we were undermanned, and once when we had our full pre-NSC (read "without Amit") line-up.

Was Ming on this team? If so, then Dorman B is scary good.

Ming was on the latter team. We were doing really poorly when we played them in the prelims. We played them again in the finals and won by a substantial margin. The undermanned team I mentioned was Neil and me at Weekend of Quizbowl.

Probably tomorrow, i would think.

Hope more people sent in ballots. I'd hate to see a national poll based on a dozen responses.

Tonight is the big night, is it not? Have you received more polls as a result of your extension? Finally, what time does voting close, & when do you anticipate posting the results?

I ended up with 22 ballots, all of which I will be accepting.

I have emailed some of the voters, checking to make sure a team or three weren't left off accidentally. Believe it or not, this has actually been an issue in the past.

The deadline for a response to this emails is the end of the 8th. After that, ballots will be accepted as they are, changes or no.

Fred,

You have outdone yourself and you now rival one Lebron James in changing dates for decisions and creating an atmosphere of humorous suspense. Are you going to contact ESPN and ask for an hour tonight at midnight to announce the final poll of the year? I mean if a Cavalier can get such an hour, why cannot our very own comic and cavalier GRANNY do likewise? My guess is that the entire quizbowl world will be tuning in to ESPN tonight to see your midnight revelations. You do intend to publish the revelations tonight, do you not? Or, will you out-Lebron young Mr. James and continue with the suspense, telling us that results will be published SOON---possibly within the next week or two???? Personally, I think ESPN should put you on its payroll, for you seem to have mastered the skill of "Lebronization" as well as any anchor required to "tease" his audience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
