Allow me to remind you all that the deadline for the largest discount is approaching; you have until May 1st to send me a really good packet. Right now, I have one packet from Evan Adams et al. but surely everyone is hard at work on their questions.

Michigan people:

As packet deadlines are approaching...any word yet on whether you will have a slot open for me? If not, no big deal, I will staff.

EDIT: I'm on a team of various Michigan people.

Sorry, Mike! I think there is certainly room for you. I know Phil would like to go for sure, and was interested in attempting the earliest deadline. Kurtis isn't sure whether he can go, but has offered to help write questions regardless. I will try and get a more concrete response from people tonight.

Is there any news as to the distribution of events over the weekend? The announcement for the trash tournament says that it'll be Sunday; do we know when the Fine Arts & Lit. tournaments will be?

The deadline for the $100 discount has passed. Thanks to Evan Adams and his team for submitting an early packet; let them be an example to the rest of you.

Err, it's 2:47 PM here. We were planning on submitting our packet tonight.

Edit: I guess on re-reading the original post it did say "before May 1st". This is unfortunate, as most deadlines are set to be both not on a Friday and to go until the end of the announced date (e.g. "submitted by May 1st").

Anyway, you should still have a packet from us tonight. Give us whatever discount you want.

I guess, to be fair, the deadline was "before May 1st." We actually were planning on submitting our packet this evening as well, I think.

Yeah, we misread it the same way, and will have the packet to you tonight.
For those of us who didn't read carefully enough and expected the date in the post to correspond to the date the packet needed to be turned in on, can you be lenient and make a -$90 discount or something?
Your post is clear, but does differ from the vast majority of tournaments in that packets are on a Friday night instead of a Saturday or Sunday.
I'll make sure to read more carefully in the future.

Echoing this call. I just saw "May" and automatically assumed May 2 since that was the closest Sunday.

In light of quizbowl's apparent inability to determine dates and understand the meanings of words, I will accept packets submitted before I wake up tomorrow morning for a $90 discount.

Packets received from:

The Inexorable Sadness of Pencils (Evan Adams, Matt Bollinger, Auroni Gupta, Will Butler)
Autobiography of a Lungworm (Rutgers)
The First Citizens of Contingency (Ahmad Ragab, Gautam Kandlikar, Aaron Rosenberg, Mike Bentley)
The Great Slime Kings (Michael Hausinger, Andy Kravis, Scot Putzig, Surya Sabhapathy)
Speculative Hipsters (Libo Zeng et al.)

I haven't had the time to peruse all the packets yet. Most of them will probably get the max discount, some may not, as per my warning. It basically depends on how much of the packet I have to rewrite.

Hey, I know people are waiting for some responses from me about packets and events such; I ask that you be patient with me for a few more days as I feverishly race to wrap up the paperwork before the Friday deadline that the graduate school set for me. Once that's done I'll start work on coordinating CO and editing.

Hey, I was really sad to see that no one had sent packets before the -$50 deadline except the people who were trying to make the early one. The -$25 deadline is coming in two weeks; I hope to see a lot of stuff in my inbox before then.

The May 29th deadline for submitting a packet for -$25 has passed.

At this juncture in the narrative, I observe that the field appears to have stabilized to 15 teams. This is an excellent number since it allows for a full round-robin. I am going to tentatively close the field to further entrants; if there is enough demand, the field may be reopened at a later date.

I would be remiss in my duty as editor if I didn't use this opportunity to remind everyone that the June 12 deadline is coming up this weekend. That is the no penalty deadline, and as you can see, lots of teams have yet to submit packets. Please don't wait until the last minute to do so.

I was under the impression that the Charlie Rosenthal/Joseph Hansen team folded (as mentioned in the matchmaking thread), which was why I signed up our team to bring the number of teams back to 15.

I see. I didn't really pay attention to that thread and the spreadsheet hadn't been updated to reflect this fact. In that case, I'm declaring team A Complete Concordance dissolved, bringing the number of teams down to 15. This is good.

I would like to offer my services as a free agent. For example, two teams have not listed their fourth players. I could also help out with various fractions of that team's packet, for it appears that 24/24 need to be submitted by Friday, July 2, rather than by Saturday, July 3.

Hey people!

Today is the last day to submit packets unless you've gotten an extension from me. Only one team has so far gotten an extension (Hang et al.), which means that there are multiple teams that have not submitted packets and have not asked for an extension. This is pretty bad! So if you're going to ask for an extension, you'd better do so by the end of the weekend, because I really will start dropping teams that think they can submit packets 3 days before the tournament without asking for permission to do so. You have been duly warned.

Our packet will be in later tonight, likely after midnight but not excessively so.

While most teams have finally submitted packets, there are still two delinquents: Sorice et al. and Dees et al. Someone from those teams should really contact me and explain what's going on, because that's pretty ridiculous.

Hey, I'm totally fucking serious here. I don't have internet at home right now (or, rather, I'm leaching from a nearby hotspot) so I don't have time to chase either of those people around. So if you have had any contact with either Mike or Charlie, I would really appreciate it if you could tell them to email me and explain what the shit is going on. I've already sent emails but so far have had no responses.

I am pretty happy for the editors earn $20 a day from those teams, but yeah, this is ridiculous.

Hey Jerry, I sent you a reply a few days ago, but I gather you didn't get it. Sorry about that. Our packet is so late because I've been waiting on questions from a team member (NOT ME THIS TIME, DAVID GARB AND ASSOCIATED ASSHOLES!) which I am now, i.e. at this very moment, writing on the assumption that he's never going to send them. Sorry I didn't do that earlier - I kept expecting they'd come. I'll get you the packet tomorrow. Let me know if you need anything else from me to help make this right.

Mike, I did get your response. I should have replied back in acknowledgement. Thanks.
