Moon Pie Classic at UT-Chattanooga 5/8/2010
After much shuffling of calendars and feet, UTC will hold this year's Moon Pie Classic on the less-than-ideal date of Saturday, May 8, 2010. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this was the only weekend we could pull everything and everyone together this year. The Moon Pie Classic will be a delayed mirror of Princeton's BUZZERFEST. Full details will follow in the next few days.

Great,
USF is expressing interest in attending both Moon Pie and RC Cola. Number of teams as yet still undetermined.

Would seniors who graduated earlier that week (Thursday the 6th) still be eligible to play? If so, we will likely be able to field a team.

As we usually do with tournaments held at UTC, Snead will try to make an effort to attend. Whether or not we'll be able to remains unclear at the moment, as I and my teammates will have to check our schedules. We'll keep you updated.

University of Louisville would be interested in sending teams to the Moon Pie and RC Cola. At least two squads, but I will know specifics soon.

WKU is hoping to send 1-2 teams to this, depending on funding.

Re: Moon Pie Classic at UT-Chattanooga 5/8/2010
Apologies for the slow trickle of information – I’ve been working crazy hours. Yes, UTC A.T.A. is still hosting the Moon Pie Classic (collegiate quizbowl) on Sat. 5/8/2010 and the RC Cola Classic (trash) on Sun. 5/9/2010. Moon Pie will be a delayed mirror of Princeton's Buzzerfest; RC Cola will be original material. Base fees are $100 per team for Moon Pie and $80 per team for RC Cola. Discounts are available – if you come read at our high school tournament this Saturday (4/17), if you bring a moderator for Moon Pie or RC, if you write some freelance high school questions for us, and/or if you want to submit a packet for RC Cola. For RC packet info, please contact Michael Kearney at [email protected]. To update us on your school's status (# of teams, which divisions), please e-mail us at [email protected].
Tournament start times are:
Moon Pie – registration starts at 9 AM, play at 10 AM
RC Cola – registration 8:30 AM, play at 9 AM
And yes, anyone who was an active student in the 2009-2010 academic year is eligible to play, even if someone already slipped them a diploma.
Tournament HQ will probably be Holt 124 for both tournaments. Further details will follow. Thanks for your patience.

Turns out we won't be able to make this, but we will definitely be at the summer mirror of HSNCT which I hope is still happening.

Unless something has drastically changed, the best place to park would be the lot by Holt and Grote. They usually hold the tournament in one of those 2 buildings. We've always parked there when we went and it's very convenient. On this map it is the section labeled "10" or University Greenway.Hilltopper22 wrote:Could we get a field update? I was wondering the same thing. It appears that the tournament has three (maybe four) teams, the closest of which is three hours away from Chattanooga. I am guessing that some (like us and possibly USF) will require an overnight stay, so I am hoping to know something soon.Church51907 wrote:This tournament is still happening right?

WKU will be staying overnight in Chattanooga tomorrow night. I sent an e-mail to Charlie last night asking if we needed to know anything else about the tournament, but I haven't got a response yet.
EDIT: Just got a response. The field is small, but it seems like the event is indeed taking place.

Re: Moon Pie Classic at UT-Chattanooga 5/8/2010
We're still on. With a late cancellation by Dalton State, we only have six teams confirmed (Western KY, Florida State, UTC, North Greenville, and two open teams) with one or two more open teams possible. We'll gladly accept any late registrants. I know the late date was an obstacle for a lot of teams, but this is a one-year fluke; we should be back to late March/early April in 2011.

We have seven teams confirmed for RC Cola (Louisville, UTC, USF alums, Pace et al., Pearson/Thompson et al., Kilby/Dion et al., Kendall/Kendall et al.) There may be one or two more -- I've heard from other people who are coming but don't know who's on what team.

Re: Moon Pie Classic at UT-Chattanooga 5/8/2010
WKU would like to thank UTC for an enjoyable tournament, it was a good way for us to end our first season. We're considering coming back for the HSNCT mirror (we haven't made a decision yet though, it's just something that sounded fun) and hopefully we'll make it back to Chattanooga for a tournament sometime next season.

Off the top of my head, I think (I may not be 100% correct on everything) Florida State won Division I, Chattanooga won Division II and USF Open was the top open team there. As far as individuals go, I think that Billy (FSU), Seth Kendall (Seth Kendall), Ahmad (USF), and Rob (USF) were the top 4, possibly in that order.crimsonscholar wrote:I know that Charlie is extremely slow in getting statistics up, but does anyone have individual and team tops from the tournament?

With only about 3 weeks and some change left until the "Tentative Date" for the HSNCT Mirror, is it even still happening? It'd be nice to see some type of announcement for it so I can relay information to my intended teammates so they can make plans to attend.
