So, we're still working this out, but it looks like I'll probably end up driving them, and I'll probably staff this tournament (I don't know how else I would spend my time).

As I have responses from most schools at this point, I'll update the field for MCMNT here:

Harding (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
Charles Hang School for College Players Who Club Baby Seals (1 team, 1 buzzers, 0 moderators)
SCC (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
College of DuPage (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
Eureka (1 team, 1 buzzer, 0 moderators)
OSU (2 teams, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
Mineral Area College (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
U of Chicago (2 teams, 2 buzzers, 0 moderators)
Notre Dame (1 team, 1 buzzer, 1 moderator)
Augustana (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
U Wisconsin (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)

This makes 13 teams with 7 buzzers (Illinois has 2). If all the moderators show up (i.e., no one gets really sick really soon), then there will be a house team.

The Trashtwostrophe field is below:

Friends of Mr. Canning (2 teams, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
Eureka (2 teams, 1 buzzer, 0 moderators)
Harding/Augustana (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
Friends of Mr. Geringer (2 teams, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
Cup of Nicky Noodles (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)
Notre Dame (1 team, 0 buzzers, 0 moderators)

This makes 9 teams with 4 buzzers (Illinois has 2).

If you have any changes to what I have stated in this post, indicate so either in this thread or via email.

I might be able to get my hands on two buzzer systems. Only problem is they can tie. Maybe Nolan can bring one from Loyola or Ben can bring one from OPRF.

In fairness, I've never seen them tie in a game. I mean, you have to really intentionally try to tie them and it takes a good 30 tries to get them to tie.

Circumstances have made it look like I will be attending this mirror. However, I do have a couple of issues that I need straightened out.

I have heard that there will not be any open teams. I really would rather not play solo, as I am terrible on more than half of the canon. If I have to, though, do I at least get a discount?

Also, I will probably need a ride from Chicago. If Mike Perovanovic or anybody who can help me out with a ride would e-mail me at [email protected], it would be greatly appreciated.

Are powers going to be used at this event? I was just wondering since last year's iteration seems to be power-marked.

MUT does have powers I think, however I know we did not use them last year, and we probably won't this year either, as that is how MCMNT has traditionally been run.

Hey people,

For those of you that really don't enjoy trash, we are going to mirror Will Nediger's MELD concurrently with trash. This is open to anyone to play who doesn't want to smell like a garbage can, and there will probably be a marginal entrance fee of 5 dollars or so Will can get compensated. The format is TBD, and I might scooter on over to the local bookstore for prizes for one or two people or maybe more.

Prelims can be found here.

Teams were rebracketed 5-5-4, with the 5/6 seeds (of 14) being determined by PPB (Notre Dame narrowly edged out SCC). 5 rounds of playoffs are being played before finals.

Playoffs (and finals) can be found here.

There was a three way tie for third between the Charles Hang School, Notre Dame, and Chicago B that was played off concurrently with finals. Chicago B decided to leave, forfeiting their match (putting them in 5th place) and the Charles Hang School beat out Notre Dame for 3rd place. Chicago A and OSU A played an advantage final that Chicago A won in one game.

Trashtwostrophe stats will be up by the end of tomorrow.

I'm being told that I need a username and password to access the playoff stats. Also, complete stats for an iteration of trashtastrope? That's unheard of!

EDIT: Chicago left a buzzer system. Donald bullied us Chicago-area kids into taking it home with us. It is currently in the possession of the esteemed Ben Carbery. Ben will deliver the system to the imitable Jonah Greenthal this Saturday at the Maine South Sectional in the IHSA State Series. Jonah will then deliver the system to his venerable roommate (who evidently plays quizbowl), who will then get the system in the right hands. This is all assuming Carbery wins his Regional on Tuesday night. Pressure's on!

Somehow, despite uploading the stats to a publicly accessible folder, the playoff stats were set to be shared with "None." This should be fixed now; sorry about that.

Well, I'm not sure who was pseudonymously playing for the "Charles Hang School," but I'm glad that the one who called him(her)self "Valencia" was the highest ranked individual scorer on the team.

That was yours truly. But I think some of our afternoon stats may have been logged incorrectly, that is I was acually the one who went 0/6 against OSU A. I'll double check when I get home though.

It's called having only one packet with which to play off a final. There were eight (8) packets, we used seven (7) in the round-robin. This has been done before, see CO Trash 08.

Yeah, I checked the playoff stats vs. my notebook and found that for the first two rounds the scorekeeper switched us around:

Rd 8, Snead was actually 5/3, Chipola was actually 2/0, and Valencia was actually 7/0.
Rd 10, Chipola was actually 3/0, Valencia was actually 0/6, and Snead was actually 5/1.

The already posted stats issues should be taken care of. I have also added a round report for the Trashtwostrophe stats (and even added a title).
