We'd love to attend this. Tell your supervisor that we'll have a non-Caulfield adult with us the entire time at this tournament if we do attend.

We may send a B-team to this, but we have a taping that day, so RM A probably won't be there.

She says that will be fine, but she wants "assurance (in writing)" that the adult will stay there all day.

In related news, she's also requested that, when you sign up on the site, all schools provide the name of an adult who will be staying for the entire tournament. Sorry for any inconvenience all of this causes.

This is now less than two weeks away; please register!

While we have the old registration information, we'd rather get positive confirmation from teams that can definitely make the new date, so the new registration is independent of your previous registration for the January 30 date. Therefore, it doesn't matter if you use the same password as before.

Hi guys, so this tournament is in a week, and as of now, we have exactly ZERO teams officially signed up. Obviously we would like more than zero teams to attend this tournament, so if you've expressed interest here, it would really help us out if you could officially register (the link is posted above in the first post in this thread) so that we at least have an idea of how many teams will be showing up.

Again, we hope many of the teams we saw at TJIAT and the initial attempt at NAREN, as well as other teams who expressed interest in our tournaments previously, will consider attending this Saturday. We'd love to see you there.

Edited to remove a bit about the set.

Consider Whitman registered pending a good idea of how many teams we can bring.

I know our coach was hesitant to register because there were zero teams...he is currently out of town, but if some other people register we can probably get back to you Monday or Tuesday.

Unfortunately, our It's Academic taping that was scheduled for the 13th has been moved to the 20th, making us unavailable. I was hoping this date would have been better for us.

Most teams kind of need to actually get together to make sure people can go, so I'm sure that number will go up by a lot once everyone gets back to school

Gonzaga has paid for the previously-scheduled tournament and I hope we can attend this one, but I have to wait to meet with my kids if we ever get back to school this week. Sorry to keep you waiting like this for a few more days.

Glad to see a few teams starting to register. We are trying to hold together two teams for this. Our A team will be missing our top two scorers, and our B team will be all freshmen. I guess this was not the best weekend for this tournament, for us and a lot of other people. So it goes.

What would be your minimum number of teams to actually run this tournament on Sat.?

We'd like to run this with whatever field we have, though of course a larger one would be ideal. 10 (with a house team if necessary) might be a minimum, but again I don't anticipate us cancelling this.

Registration tomorrow will be from 8:00 to 9:00; I think there will be registration for an SAT practice test around the same time, so make sure you follow the signs for this instead. It'll be in the same place as usual, though, and we're the ones with the donuts.
There will be two round-robin brackets of six in the morning (for five prelim games), then for playoffs the top six and bottom six will each have another five-game round robin. We're also reading tossups from TIDUS during lunch ($5 per player); tell your first-round moderator if you're interested.
If you paid on 1/30 and didn't get reimbursed, you don't need to pay again. Otherwise, checks should be made out to TJHSST, c/o Jean Stevens.

Thanks to TJ for being quite efficient and having good readers all around. Congrats to Gov for being still very scary shorthanded and all other teams.

I thought the bonuses were kind of out there at times and fluctuated a bit (especially in the later rounds), but those are small quibbles for a really solid set.

This was not actually the Unspecified Inanimate Object. The Buzzer Rock has been notably neglected off late, and so this was a pack of cards.

Is this set open for discussion or is it being mirrored somewhere? I think it was pretty good overall; a few weird bonus difficulties and a couple tossup difficulty cliffs. EDIT: NEVER MIND

Hey TJ,
Deepest regrets that we, the GMU club, weren't able to come mod like we wanted to. Our tournament ran that same day (finishing about 3 hours after yours, it must be noted). Congrats on running a great tournament, from what I've heard through emails and the forums.

If you talk about the set (especially the tossups), you better watch your back at the NSC. Just sayin'.
