Livingston High School is hosting its 2nd annual March Madness NAQT Tournament on March 6, 2010. To register or ask any questions, please email me at [email protected] (or post questions below). We are able to use most of the rooms in the school to play, so we are really limited by the number of buzzers and moderators we can get. This tournament is PACE affiliated.

Questions
We will be playing NAQT Packet IS-90 using standard NAQT rules.

Tournament Format
The tournament will run from approximately 8:30 to about 5 PM. Depending on the number of teams entered, the format will be about 5 to 7 round robin preliminary games followed by a single elimination playoff series for the top 16 teams as well as a consolation bracket for the next 16 teams.

Fees
+$80 per team
+$70 per additional team.
-$10 for each working buzzer system
-$10 for each experienced moderator provided
(max $30 discount per school)
Any other discounts will be on case-by-case basis, please contact Coach Rabner or I via email.

Food
As we did last year, a fabulous bagel/juice/coffee breakfast will be provided for everyone. We will also be selling food throughout the day and ordering pizzas for lunch. There are local food places for anyone who wants to leave the building

Field (teams, buzzers, moderators)
(all teams that have currently replied as attending will be listed here)

Unfortunately, Saint Joseph's has to withdraw from the field---I just discovered that half of my players on both teams have a major conflict with the State Championship Chess Tournament being held on the same day. So sorry about this---I hope you have a great field and a great tournament.

Provided that you have not yet reached your cap on teams, SHP would like to register. (Please tell Mr. Rabner that I am sorry for the delay. My wife and I had a little girl a few days ago!) I will e-mail him on Monday.

Just to let all know, we are VERY SHORT in terms of the number of buzzers we need to run this tournament properly. From what it seems, we need as many as 8 buzzer systems in order to have enough for Satuday. Any competing team who can scrounge one or more up or even a team not coming who could lend us some for the day, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks!

Sounds good, Brother Nigel. I'll put you down on our list. As many buzzers as you can bring would be great. If you know anyone else in local towns who wouldn't mind lending system(s) for the day, too, we'd pay them for the buzzers (as you know from a previous post, we are desperate!). Paramus Catholic and Ridgewood HS also registered today.

Guy,

Saint Joe's cannot come, but I do have 2 buzzer systems I can lend you. Will anyone be there on Saturday between 7:30 & 8:00 AM? If so, just post your address---I'll use my GPS system to get there and drop them off. Then I'll pick them up in the afternoon towards the end of the tournament. I must arrive by 8:00 the latest because my freedom this weekend got me drafted to do work at SJHS between 9 & Noon. But I can help with the buzzers earlier in the AM if you still need some.

I think most of the team will be there by then, but Mr Rabner and I should be at the high school by 7- 7 30 to set up.
The high school is at:

30 Robert H Harp Dr
Livingston, NJ 07039

map can be found at: http://www.livingston.org/1532207101623 ... NodeID=300

I didn't update the field again, but right now I'm posting a number update:
Teams: 46 (to last year's 41)
Buzzers: 19+2 (last year had 25)

Still short on buzzers it seems.

Put SHP down for 2 teams, 2 buzzers, and 1 moderator. I MAY be able to bring a third team and a third buzzer. I will e-mail Mr. Rabner tomorrow morning with details.

Congrats to Seton Hall A for a very narrow defeat over Kellenberg A in the Finals (275 - 270, power on the last question)!

Thanks to everyone for coming out to the tournament today!

A BIG thank you to all those who helped moderate and put up with us throughout the day. And thanks for bringing those buzzers!
Everything went basically like clockwork down to the final rounds.

Congrats to all teams and a good job to everyone who played today. Hopefully people enjoyed the Olympic theme of the day, the Germans (Seton Hall) beat the Russians (Kellenberg) in an intense gold medal match. The game was just about neck and neck till the last question with a difference of 5 points at the very end.

All the stats for this tournament are posted here.

I uploaded the stats 5 minutes after the finals but drove home and crashed on the couch, so sorry for the "delay." I think I beat Princeton's time for results though...
